Job Summary: This position is located at the Regional Accounting Office, Warfighter & Family Readiness (WFR), Joint Region Marianas (JRM), Guam. The mission of JRM WFR is to provide the highest quality programs and services to the military community through self-sustainment across all quality of life programs.

Major Duties:

  • Major duties and responsibilities are summarized below. Performs a full range of accounting functions related to the maintenance, analysis, and reporting of financial data, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to manage financial accounts and operations. Posts entries to the general ledger from original documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to double-entry bookkeeping principles. Closing assigned accounts at the end of the accounting month and reconciling general ledger balances with subsidiary ledgers. Manages accounts payable and receivable functions, including reviewing, verifying, and analyzing documents for validity, completeness, and accuracy. Performs bank reconciliations, reconciling automated entries against manual documents, and reconciling the Daily Activity Record (DAR) clearing account. Tracks and maintains inventory records, calculating monthly cost of goods sold figures, and posting inventory submissions. Maintains an internal control system, following established procedures, and monitoring accounts for compliance with relevant regulations and fund availability. Maintains funds and related accounting records for NAF programs or activities, monitoring NAF program accounts. Processes standardized and recurring accounting documents/transactions, as well as analyzing and resolving non-standard transactions. Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and double-entry accrual accounting to analyze financial information and maintain accounting data. Knowledge of the fundamentals of financial statements, reports, ledgers, and journals to support review and analysis. Knowledge of related functional areas, such as finance, to investigate and resolve discrepancies. Knowledge of frequently used accounting procedures and regulations to respond to recurring inquiries. Knowledge of and the ability to use automated accounting systems (e.g., SAP), including data input, error report interpretation, corrective action, and report generation. Knowledge of and ability to utilize computers, including automated accounting systems, point-of-sale systems, and standard office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately and efficiently. Ability to investigate and resolve errors, incompatible information, or other similar discrepancies using well-established approaches. Ability to use a 10-key calculator or equivalent. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a diverse group of individuals. Work is primarily sedentary. However, may require some physical effort, such as standing, walking, bending, or sitting. There are no special physical demands.
