Supervisor, Functional Analysts (Claims)

The Functional Analysts (FA) Supervisor is responsible for providing supervision and leadership to FA staff. Provides guidance to FAs in the areas of business analysis and requirement life cycle management. Helps them to resolve conflict within their portfolio and across portfolios. Provides continuous feedback to staff on areas of improvement and growth. Encourages team members to keep them motivated and engaged. Help staff with any blockers for successful performance. Addresses staffing needs in support of assigned portfolio(s).

This role requires leading other team members and coordinating work efforts, leading problem and solution scoping efforts, and effectively communicating requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Analysis: Consistently support the alignment of business strategy with system implementations by guiding and leading the FA team.
  • Business Analysis/Elicitation Skills: Consistently support and guide FA team members to ensure that the business need is understood and articulated clearly.
  • Requirements Life Cycle Management: Consistently support and guide FA team in achieving deliveries that reflect business outcomes by collaborating with portfolio managers, delivery teams and other leaders.
  • Leadership and Core Competencies: Lead and supervise FA staff by identifying their strengths, weaknesses, and work to develop programs (with supporting formal and informal training) to build upon an individual’s strengths and mitigate weaknesses when and where possible.

Required Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of different requirements gathering tools and techniques (such as, use cases, diagramming, process modeling, interviews, and workshops).
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working in Agile delivery methodology (i.e., SAFE).
  • Experience working with Insurance policy platform – Guidewire, Duck Creek, Majesco
  • Experience with Claims functionality related to Personal and/or Commercial insurance products.
  • Experience using JIRA and Confluence tools to document user stories.
  • Extensive experience leading and coordinating teamwork efforts.
  • Extensive experience in leading other analysts and providing guidance for their deliverables. Lead and coordinate requirements planning & monitoring activities for project delivery.
  • Proven experience in leading process improvement initiatives for the individual, functional group/team, department or organization and drive implementation to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst
  • 10+ years of experience in software delivery.
  • HS Diploma or GED Equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

Any education, certifications or licenses related to the following areas are of value-add:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Agile project delivery (i.e., SAFE – SAFE Agilist or SAFe PO/PM)
  • Business Analysis (i.e., CBAP) Property & Casualty Insurance (i.e., CPCU, CIC, AINS)

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials.

Pay Range: $138,590-$160,930
