What We Want

The Texas A&M Children's Centers are seeking Kitchen Assistants for the summer months. In this role, you’ll help prep breakfast, lunch, and snacks, bring meals to classrooms, and pick up dishes afterward. You’ll also help with inventory tasks like checking supplies and putting away food deliveries. What You Need to Know

Salary: $10.00/hourly

Other Requirements and Factors:

  • This is a temporary/casual position for the summer months.

  • Must have or be able to obtain a Food Handler's certificate or Food Service Manager's certificate.

  • Must pass a background check with Child Care Licensing.

  • The role requires the ability to safely lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • No previous experience required.

Essential Duties/Tasks

  • Adheres to all policies and procedures of Becky Gate's, Charlotte Sharp Children's Center, TAMU and other governing bodies. 

  • Assist with the planning and preparation of meals (breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack) in compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program, USDA and the Health Department.

  • Deliver meals to the classroom and pick up dishes and trash from the classroom.

  • Maintain health and safety standards when preparing food, dishwashing and sanitizing surfaces.

  • Be knowledgeable of special dietary needs of individual children and appropriate substitutions.

  • Assist with inventory tracking and ordering.

  • Receive, store and shelve food deliveries.

  • Follow portion guidelines established by USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program.
