The Avigilon Alta Access Hardware Team is seeking enthusiastic and talented Electrical or Mechanical Engineering students for our Summer 2026 Hardware Engineer Intern program. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the design, development, and testing of innovative physical security hardware solutions, contributing to the future of secure access.
Job Responsibilities
As a Hardware Engineer Intern, you will have the opportunity to:
Assist in the design and development of new hardware components and systems for Avigilon Alta access control products.
Conduct testing, debugging, and validation of electrical circuits, mechanical assemblies, and prototypes.
Collaborate with senior engineers on schematic capture, PCB layout, mechanical CAD, and component selection.
Support the assembly and fabrication of prototypes and test fixtures.
Perform data collection and analysis to evaluate hardware performance and identify areas for improvement.
Participate in design reviews and contribute to technical discussions.
Document designs, test procedures, and results in a clear and concise manner.
Research new technologies and components to inform future product development.
Job Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Strong foundational understanding of electrical engineering principles (e.g., circuit analysis, digital logic, analog circuits) OR mechanical engineering principles (e.g., solid mechanics, material science, CAD).
Familiarity with relevant software tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Eagle, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360).
Hands-on experience with prototyping, soldering, and basic lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters) is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong desire to learn.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Prior internship experience or personal projects related to hardware development are a plus.
