Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Student Worker - LASB Dean’s Office for the School of Liberal Arts, Sciences & Business. The Dean’s Office Assistant provides support to overall academic operations to include preparing for upcoming semesters, receptionist activities, customer service, office supply orders, data entry and management, copier supply management, and other assigned duties and projects necessary to maintain an organized workflow in support of all School of Liberal Arts, Sciences & Business academic operations.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Performing receptionist duties while providing customer service to all individuals making inquiries.
  • Preparing classrooms for upcoming semesters.
  • Updating databases, pulling degree audit reports, and data entry.
  • Distributing and routing forms as needed.
  • Maintaining up-to-date employee mailbox system.
  • Checking centralized school email account and responding to inquiries promptly.
  • Building and updating centralized school calendar with important dates.
  • Maintaining inventory of needed supplies and reordering when necessary.
  • Copying and scanning materials in preparation for meetings or archiving.
  • Professional communications with the Office of the Registrar, Centralized Academic Advising, Admissions, School of Nursing, School of Education, and campus faculty.
  • Notifying students of course cancellations or day/time changes.
  • Act as a courier for documents and/or packages between Nevada State building locations.
  • Assisting with other assigned projects in the School of Liberal Arts, Sciences & Business such as remedial math program support (data entry and preparing testing materials), semester set-up tasks (building/classroom sets and clean up), special projects and/or event support, and general clerical tasks.
  • Accountable to maintain strict confidentiality of all information gained through your work in the School of Liberal Arts, Sciences & Business - Dean’s Office and related responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 2.7 or higher.
  • Must be enrolled as a degree seeking student with a minimum of 6 credits in the current or future semester.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas)
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and be open to training on databases and web-based student information systems.
  • Ability to present oneself professionally, exercise flexibility when needed and interact well with others in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions, learn and apply procedures and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Experience with customer service in an office setting, confidential records management, and/or customer conflict management.

Work Hours:

This position will work 5 hours per week from Spring through Fall 2026, then a maximum of 19.5 hours per week starting Spring 2027.

Hourly Rate:

$12.00 per hour.
