Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

Join the Department of Residence team at Iowa State University and play an important role in helping students feel at home on campus. We are seeking an organized, customer-focused professional to serve as an Assignments Specialist, supporting housing operations that impact thousands of students each year.

This position blends customer service, problem-solving, and behind-the-scenes coordination to manage housing assignments, contracts, billing processes, guest housing, and student support. What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate housing assignments for new and returning students, room changes, cancellations, roommate requests, and summer housing.

  • Review and process housing contracts while helping students understand policies, timelines, and options.

  • Assess housing and dining charges, review billing activity, and process adjustments or refunds as needed.

  • Manage guest housing placements, early arrivals, and late stay requests.

  • Serve as a trusted resource for students, families, and campus partners by providing professional, responsive support.

  • Help maintain accurate records and ensure important processes run smoothly during high-volume times of year.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with on-campus housing/property management

  • Experience utilizing campus housing management software

  • Experience with billing operations and auditing of financial transactions, including reviewing charges and identifying errors

  • Experience managing or coordinating high-volume, detail oriented processes with frequent deadlines.
