As a Student, Investment Operations, you will play a key support role within the Investment Operations team (Capital Markets and Private Investments), contributing to the accuracy, efficiency, and rigor of investment operations.

What You Will Accomplish With Us

As a Student, Investment Operations, you will be at the heart of our mission. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Performing post-trade operations related to listed securities, derivatives, and OTC products, including clearing, settlements, custody accounts, reconciliations, cash operations, and collateral management;

  • Working closely with other members of the Investment Operations team to resolve issues efficiently;

  • Carrying out operations related to market events, including system entry and follow-up with internal portfolio managers for discretionary events;

  • Performing operations related to security valuation;

  • Validating data for swaps, futures, and other complex OTC products;

  • Participating in the implementation of standardized monitoring processes supported by appropriate controls;

  • Implementing and applying best practices, ensuring consistent policies and procedures, adequate controls, and increased reporting efficiency;

  • Staying informed of regulatory changes and industry standards impacting client reporting;

  • Liaising with various teams on all aspects of financial reporting, including the oversight and/or understanding of key accounting policies and their impact on financial reporting.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting;

  • Is recognized for strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data and financial statements;

  • Stands out for a solid understanding of investment products, financial markets, and financial concepts, including wealth management;

  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail, rigor, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously;

  • Is known for autonomy, initiative, curiosity, strong teamwork skills, and the ability to learn quickly;

  • Has an intermediate level of English proficiency, as the position involves daily verbal and written interactions with internal and external unilingual English-speaking partners;

  • Has a good understanding of financial and accounting environments in Canada and the United States, as well as knowledge of the Canadian regulatory environment for securities operations (an asset);

  • Has knowledge of Excel (VBA) and the Microsoft Power suite (assets).
