ROLE OVERVIEW

Student Developer | Vienna, Austria

The Student Developer program provides an excellent opportunity for technically skilled students to gain hands-on experience building software and infrastructure used in a global macro hedge fund. Student developers will work closely with engineers, researchers, and traders to design and implement systems that support data processing, research, trading, and risk management.

Participants will gain exposure to modern software engineering practices in a fast-paced financial environment and will have opportunities to contribute to production systems. Student developers will also participate in informal social events and have ample opportunity to learn about financial markets and quantitative trading. Full-time potential exists after graduation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and implement scalable services and internal tools used by research and trading teams
  • Develop internal applications and dashboards to improve monitoring, analytics, and operational workflows
  • Collaborate with quantitative researchers, traders, and data engineers to deliver reliable and performant systems
  • Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code following modern software engineering practices

REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, or a related technical with programming focus with a top grade.
  • Strong programming skills with experience in Python, C++, Java, or similar languages.
  • Knowledge of relational databases is a plus.
  • Familiarity with software engineering fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, and version control (e.g., Git)
  • Previous experience as an intern or trainee developing code in an organization is a plus.
  • Curiosity about financial markets and quantitative systems.
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and work effectively in a collaborative environment

COMPENSATION

Student salary of  20h/week (per month, 14 payments): 1,964€.
