SimCorp

Student Assistant (Software Engineering)

Copenhagen Part time

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US

SimCorp is developing a new game changing Software-as-a-Service solution for Performance Measurement and Attribution, which will allow Investment Managers to interact with, and analyze their investments in a modern web application. It is connected to a high-performance computing calculation engine in the back-end, thus combining more than 50 years of industry-leading experience of SimCorp with a modern user experience and cloud computing, enabling users to do in minutes what used to take hours.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Take ownership of well-scoped technical tasks and projects, defined by the team and departmental needs, with some flexibility to incorporate your skills and interests where possible.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve how we work (e.g. automation, AI-assisted workflows, developer productivity) and prototype solutions.
  • Investigate system performance-related questions, run experiments, analyze results, and propose optimizations.
  • Support the department with ad hoc engineering projects such as tooling, scripts, utilities, documentation, or proof-of-concepts.
  • Explore and suggest new areas or ideas where technical support, experimentation, or investigation could create value for the team.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You are currently studying MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or a similar field.
  • You thrive in open-ended environments and enjoy working proactively and independently, including clarifying scope and driving tasks forward with limited initial direction.
  • Solid programming fundamentals; experience with C#/.NET is a plus, but not a requirement if you have strong skills in another language.
  • Interest in (or prior exposure to) one or more of: AI-assisted development, automation, performance analysis/optimization, or developer tooling.
  • Comfortable learning new tools quickly and sharing findings with the team (e.g. short write-ups, demos, documentation).
  • A structured approach to work: you can plan, communicate progress, and ask for help when needed.
  • Experience with Git and modern engineering practices such as CI/CD and code reviews.
  • Good communication skills in English (written and spoken).
