About the Role

For our fast-growing business in new markets, commodities and services, we are currently looking for a smart, analytically skilled and communicative individual to join our Data Science team in Karlsruhe. As a Student Data Scientist at ICIS you will be involved in a development project, modelling the European power markets and contribute significantly to our products. This will give you the opportunity to dive into the functioning of the electricity market, apply your knowledge in practice, and open new fields of expertise. During your time with us, you will help us shaping our European power, hydrogen, gas and carbon analytics and develop insight into the European energy commodity markets. As a student at ICIS, you will work on your own project, develop your own ideas and you will contribute significantly to our products. To do so, you will work together with our experienced analyst team to receive support and to have challenging discussions about your project and analysis. We offer our students a high degree of flexibility also related to your university schedule – you can organise your working hours independently.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Modelling of the European electricity market

  • Obtaining in-depth knowledge of the European electricity market

  • Supporting the data science team in analysing and developing automated data routines

  • Analysing input data and model results and make suggestions for improvement

Key skills:

  • Interest in electricity markets, market analysis and forecasting

  • High level of interest in learning new modelling techniques

  • Analytical mindset, critical thinking, and high engagement

  • Good communication skills in German and English

  • Experience in programming in e.g. Python, MATLAB, etc.
