Strategy & Portfolio Manager

Your role

The Strategy & Portfolio Manager is responsible for developing and driving the category strategies including monitoring and execution of assigned portfolios. Achieve goals by securing supply, ensuring significant year-on-year cost improvements while meeting financial and budget targets and support providing financial market updates for forecasting and budget purposes. Identify and implement demand, productivity and innovative improvements while maintaining quality and managing vendor service levels. Set If applicable set standards to embed harmonisation and quality levels. Work closely with internal and external key stakeholders to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans and ascertain implementation.

Your responsibilities

Strategy and Portfolio Management

  • Formulating, evaluating, and testing of the Corporate Real Estate strategy against different internal and external influences, such as Hybrid working, sustainability requirements, market trends.
  • Developing and maintaining an integrated accommodation (Corporate Real Estate portfolio) plan that is in line with the Corporate Real Estate strategy, so that real estate accommodation needs can always be forecasted from a long-, medium- to short term period. During this process master plans are developed and periodically matched against the Corporate Real Estate strategy and business strategy.
  • Managing demand management, both at group level (relation to senior management and business line) and at local/regional level maintaining the relationship with country management.
  • Lead the process of site selection by setting out the scope and strategy, support the transactions, fit-out projects and by managing the approval process of the business case.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to optimize the portfolio, such as increasing the portfolio flexibility (contraction or expansion of the office portfolio) to reduce costs and anticipate on the uncertainties in demand.
  • Set out the transition of the office portfolio to meet the sustainability targets.

Real Estate (Category) Expertise

  • Increase flexibility in the real estate portfolio and optimize the global portfolio.
  • Identify and implement new (market) standards. Maintain and update ING's standards and requirements to offer a great working environment.
  • Develop and drive global real estate strategies, policies and guidelines throughout the global portfolio.

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate, lead, and influence cross-functional project teams.
  • Perform stakeholder management activities with senior stakeholders by leveraging advanced advisory skills.

Strategic Challenges

Manage assigned real estate portfolio in the context of a multi-disciplinary stakeholder landscape consisting of Business Contract Owner(s), multiple support functions, and Suppliers by finding the optimal balance between value add, flexibility.

Furthermore, you have:

  • 3 - 6 years in Procurement or real estate area, preferably at a strategic level in an international (financial services provider) organisation
  • 3+ years experience in managing (hierarchical line) direct reports or actively coaching (functional) procurement or real estate colleagues
  • Real Estate and Facility Management Category specific knowledge/experience.
  • Experience working with offshore teams
  • Analytical skills, combined with a creative view on facts and figures, and the ability to summarize and synthetize findings in a clear and concise advice
  • Profound interest and experience in the field of (corporate) real estate calculation and simulation models, financials, benchmarks
  • Strong project management skills to align with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong negotiation skills
