Strategic Sourcing Manager - India

We’re recruiting for the Strategic Sourcing Manager - India, you will lead the establishment of a new supply base in India for the most strategic component parts that will be supplied into Aggreko’s forthcoming manufacturing facility.  The role will initially build a small team of Category Leads to assess, negotiate, onboard and manage strategically with a number of key suppliers for Aggreko’s manufacturing. You will be commercially astute and willing to take accountability for delivering the objectives in helping to set up supply for the new manufacturing facility, as well as the new team. The role would work closely alongside both the pre-existing strategic, global Directs team and the newly formed Indian Procurement team.

Role Overview: This role requires an experienced leader with a background in strategic sourcing, supplier relationship /performance management and team leadership. You will need to meet the needs of a variety of internal customers across Aggreko’s manufacturing and service repair centre locations around the world, acting as the key, strategic points of contact in India.

What you’ll do:

  • Establish and manage a team of three Category Leads based in Pune as part of a wider strategic Directs Procurement function.

  • Identify and negotiate with key, strategic suppliers in-country to establish a new supply base to serve Indian manufacturing and servicing of core product parts.

  • Establish and manage contractual frameworks with each of the respective suppliers, which may include joint development agreements, as well as supply agreements.

  • Develop and communicate category strategies for the particular sub-categories.

  • Understanding the business processes and ensuring that demand from global locations is met as and when it is needed by our colleagues responsible for production or service.

  • Benchmarking suppliers to ensure on-going competitiveness for the Aggreko Group. Ensuring all suppliers that Aggreko uses are subject to the formal on-boarding process and where appropriate, subject to Aggreko’s supplier performance management program.

  • On-going management of the suppliers in scope and managing the relative supply risks by having alternative sources that can provide leverage over poor or uncompetitive suppliers.

  • Knowledge of customs regulations, GST framework, import/ export documentation and compliance requirements as per DGFT

  • Experience in ethical sourcing standards, aligned with Aggreko’s ESG and supplier code of conduct policies.

You’ll have the following skills and experience: 

  • 10 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing or supply chain management. Can work in a dynamic and fast-paced business environment and had a collaborative and challenging mindset.

  • Excellent commercial acumen and someone who has deep knowledge of the Indian supply base for electrical and mechanical components.

  • A team leader who can motivate and provide career paths for individuals as well as manage succession planning.

  • The ability to work with stakeholders not only in India, but with those across Aggreko’s global footprint, being self-aware & appreciative of other cultures and languages.

  • An authentic and inclusive communicator who can navigate through a fast-moving business and keep the function performing against the defined KPIs.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain management or related discipline, MBA or Post Graduate degree preferred.
