Overview of the role: The Strategic Relationship Management Associate will support the Strategic Relationship Management (SRM) team in managing and growing key national broker/dealer relationships, and additional partner firms. This role is designed for a motivated, team-oriented professional who is interested in building a career within SRM.  Primary responsibilities will be to provide support to senior National Account Leads, while developing skills to take on increased responsibility over time.

Working closely with National Account Leads, the Associate will assist in client servicing, relationship management, and strategic initiatives that promote the Hartford Funds brand and investment strategies within partner firms, ultimately contributing to sales growth.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB RESULTS:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of Hartford Funds’ mission, values, and investment strategies.
  • Support National Account Leads in developing and maintaining relationships with key national accounts.
  • Engage in all aspects of client servicing, ensuring accurate and timely completion of client and internal requests.
  • Support the development and execution of strategic account plans led by National Account Leads, aimed at strengthening partner firm relationships and increasing Hartford Funds visibility.
  • Coordinate client due diligence, prospecting, and investment strategy review meetings, including preparation with senior portfolio managers and development of presentation materials.
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients and prospects in partnership with National Account Leads, supporting ongoing relationship management through email, phone, correspondence, and occasional in‑person meetings.
  • Liaise with internal business partners including Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Operations, and Legal/Compliance to communicate partner firm updates and initiatives.
  • Perform administrative and organizational responsibilities such as correspondence, CRM/database maintenance, reporting, meeting coordination, and sales support.
  • Assist with sales, performance, and ad hoc analysis to support client activity and strategic planning.
  • Provide team and office support to National Accounts Leads and contribute to departmental projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Build foundational investment acumen and knowledge of the retail investment management business, with the opportunity to take on greater responsibility and eventually manage relationships independently.

   

Qualifications: 

  • Five years of mutual funds or financial services industry experience is preferred.
  • Investment Acumen with an interest in mastering all aspects of the retail investment management business.    
  • Client focused and detail oriented with a strong ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks to ensure that client requests are completed in a timely manner within timelines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills required to successfully manage the responsibilities of handling a large client base.
  • Self-starter able to master all aspects of the retail investment management business.
  • Independent worker capable of demonstrating initiative and good judgment.
  • Candidates should also possess strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to work independently, while also collaborating as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and leadership skills a must.
  • Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and a supportive, team-first mindset.
  • Willingness to travel, on a limited basis, as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, or Marketing.
  • Series 7 & 63 required.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$100,000 - $125,000
