What is a Strategic Planning Coordinator?
The Strategic Planning Coordinator supports the Chief of Staff in the Office of the CEO by contributing to the formulation and execution of corporate strategy, including defining strategic priorities, long-term objectives, and key initiatives. This role supports and coordinates strategic governance activities by planning and organizing leadership and Board strategy sessions, consolidating and enhancing board materials, and shaping executive-level presentations and communications. The Coordinator works closely with the executive team to assess internal and external factors, track progress against corporate goals through KPIs, and support periodic strategy updates in response to changing conditions. Additionally, the Strategic Planning Coordinator provides flexible support for ad hoc analyses, projects, and initiatives as needed to respond to emerging priorities and evolving Company needs.
What does a Strategic Planning Coordinator do?
Contributes to the formulation of corporate strategy, including defining strategic pillars, long-term aspirations, and key initiatives
Plans and organizes deliverables for the Office of the CEO
Plans and coordinates corporate leadership meetings, including strategic leadership meetings, quarterly management updates, and the annual leadership summit
Consolidates, reviews, and enhances Central Hudson Board materials in preparation for quarterly Board meetings
Supports the formulation and execution of key Corporate initiatives
Administers contracts for strategy, culture, and management vendors that are managed by the Office of the CEO
Tracks progress towards corporate goals and presents results as part of leadership KPI meetings
Ensures accuracy, clarity, and strategic alignment in all board documentation
Serves on teams which support high-priority projects such as corporate fleet assessment
Provides support for storm restoration efforts
What does it take to be a Strategic Planning Coordinator?
Required:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study such as Communications, Business, Engineering or related disciplines and relevant work experience supporting communications, strategy, and/ or planning
Demonstrated knowledge of the utility industry
Strong computer skills including a high level of proficiency with MS Office suite (e.g. Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational, quantitative, and strategic thinking skills
Ability to self-start and work independently or collaboratively as part of a group
Ability to work in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment
Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
Master’s degree in relevant field of study such as Communications, Business, Engineering or related disciplines
3+ years of experience in utility or regulated environments, supporting communications, strategy, and/ or planning
