Stores & Logistics Supervisor

Key responsibilities

  • Leadership & People Management Provide daily supervision, coaching, and support to two Stores Leads and their teams across three sites. Drive consistent standards, behaviours, and accountability in line with Ultra Maritimes values. Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of stores personnel, including 1-2-1s and Performance Development Reviews (PDRs) and to promote a culture of psychological safety.

  • Operational Oversight & Inventory Ensure all stores activities operate efficiently, safely, and in line with policies. Oversee goods-in/out, material handling, storage, stock accuracy, and production delivery in line with milestones. Coordinate workload and resource allocation between sites, monitor equipment availability, and escalate maintenance needs. Support Stores Leads in achieving accurate stock control, cycle counts, and discrepancy investigation. Ensure ERP transactions are completed correctly and on time, and work with the Logistics Materials & Planning Manager to resolve supply issues.

  • Operational Optimisation Proactively identify inefficiencies, areas of delay, and waste in daily logistics, warehousing and inventory processes, & implement consistent working practices, Lean standards, and SOP compliance across all stores functions. Support ongoing transformation activities across all sites.

  • Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure all stores activities comply with H&S policies, manual handling requirements, and site safety rules. Support incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions. Promote a positive safety culture across all sites.

  • Communication & Reporting Provide regular operational updates to the Logistics Materials & Planning Manager, highlighting risks, shortages, and improvement opportunities. Ensure effective communication between Stores Leads, production, planning, and wider operations.

  • Key Performance Indicators Stock accuracy and integrity; daily operational delivery; SOP and safety compliance; productivity and efficiency; team performance and engagement; reduction in errors, delays, and material shortages.

Qualifications / skills required

  • Strong leadership and people management capability with an ability to coach, develop, and influence others

  • Excellent organisational and coordination skills with strong attention to detail and process discipline

  • Strong knowledge & experience in data management & analysis

  • Solid understanding of stores, warehousing, logistics, and inventory practices

  • Experience working with ERP/MRP/PMRP stock control systems, related reporting tools and a strong grasp of Excel

  • Proactive, solutions-focused approach

Experience Requirements

  • Previous supervisory experience in stores, warehousing, logistics, or materials handling

  • Experience managing or coordinating teams across multiple locations (preferred)

  • Strong understanding of stock control processes and systems

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver consistent performance through others

Typically, a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 3+ years of related experience. Bachelor Degree preferred 6 months assembly experience preferred

Security Requirements 

This role requires you to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard Check (BPSS) as a minimum and some roles will require further national security vetting checks. 

In line with Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years. Some vacancies may require full Security Clearance which can require further evidence to be provided.
