Job Description:
The Statistician/Data Analyst supports the data collection and analysis efforts of a government program and contributes to the ongoing initiatives of a larger team. The ideal candidate will enhance and develop reporting and analytics capabilities, support forecast modeling, develop automated reporting solutions and dashboards, build briefing products, conduct analysis and deliver analytical results, and coordinate/implement data collection efforts.
Position Duties:
Work with domain experts and data analysts to develop reporting products.
Conduct high-level data interpretation and statistical analysis using a data analytics platform.
Prepare written summaries and presentations that reflect the results of data analysis and present findings to agency leadership.
Provide ad-hoc data reporting as needed.
Prototype data products and conduct analysis and feasibility based on program requirements.
Build connections, develop reports, and publish data to both development and production environments.
Create presentations and prepare documentation as needed.
Provide training for data analysts and staff on data tools and products, as well as for contractors and field staff on the use of data collection and analysis tools.
Support data collection, analysis and visualization projects as needed, including data modeling, database creation, and technical support.
Recommend technical and automated solutions for manual processes.
Work with contractor and federal staff to enhance the collection and analysis of program data.
Update and develop data collection tools and processes to yield statistically reliable and informative data and support program assessments.
Assist in identifying performance outcomes and indicators.
Identify uniform data points for analysis.
Assist with projects that support the continual improvement of data analysis.
Compile, analyze, and visualize data using a data visualization platform such as Tableau.
Qualifications:
Requires BS/BA degree in Statistics or a related field as well as 8 years of related experience, or MS/MA degree with 6 years of experience.
Working knowledge of data visualization platforms (Tableau) and scripting languages (R/Python/SAS).
Working knowledge of SQL and familiarity with relational databases.
Exceptional analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Previous experience working with children or in a health services realm preferred, but not required.
Top candidates will have specialty skills in one or more of the following areas:
Statistical analysis and modeling.
Natural language processing.
Quantitative and qualitative data analysis
Data engineering, to include experience working with large datasets and performing tasks such as data cleaning and processing (ETL).
Fundamental working knowledge of SQL.
Python and/or R.
Tableau.
Palantir.
Data entry.
Additional Requirements:
This position requires an existing T4 Public Trust or the ability to obtain one.
This role and associated duties will be performed on site at a government facility located in Washington, DC.
The likely salary range for this position is $124,093 - $143,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
