Staff/Principal Engineer, Test Development

About the Role

As a Test Development Engineer, you will support New Product Introduction (NPI) and R&D projects to enable successful release of new semiconductor products and packages into production. You will be responsible for developing robust test solutions, ensuring test readiness, and driving continuous improvement in yield and test performance.

What You Will Do

  • Support test development activities for NPI and R&D projects, ensuring smooth product and package release to production
  • Develop and debug test programs based on product test specifications
  • Perform GR&R on test handlers to ensure compliance with test system release criteria
  • Conduct data analysis across process freeze, corner matrix, qualification, and pre-production phases
  • Initiate Failure Analysis (FA) for electrical rejects, identify failure modes, and drive root cause understanding
  • Prepare test release reports and support project leaders in Change Review meetings
  • Evaluate and explore new tester platforms in alignment with global Back-End Engineering teams
  • Support new tester evaluation, including GR&R, test correlation, data analysis, and program optimization
  • Develop test programs for tester platform conversion and migration activities
  • Drive test escape prevention and improve screening strategies for both new and existing products
  • Support yield improvement and breakthrough initiatives through data-driven analysis

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Physics, or related field
  • Experience in semiconductor test development, NPI, or high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of ATE (Automated Test Equipment) and test methodologies
  • Knowledge of wafer sort and/or final test processes
  • Experience in data analysis and yield improvement
  • Familiarity with failure analysis processes and root cause investigation
  • Programming knowledge (e.g., C/C++, Python, or tester-specific languages) is an advantage
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
