DESCRIPTION:

Join an innovative, cross-functional team building advanced genomics workflows and bioinformatics solutions at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a Staff Scientist, Statistician in the Microarray Bioinformatics group, you will play a key role in experimental design, statistical modeling, and data analysis. Additional responsibilities include helping to shape robust, scalable pipelines for the analysis of genomic and other data to support research, product development, and data-driven decision-making.

You will serve as a technical lead in statistics and experimental design, collaborating closely with algorithm developers, software engineers, molecular biologists, and product managers. Your responsibilities will include contributing to and guiding the development of bioinformatics pipelines, developing statistical models, and ensuring solutions meet regulatory and quality standards. You will translate R&D concepts into production-ready workflows, guide projects from conception through delivery, and maintain high-quality technical documentation. Emphasis will be placed on experimental design and the statistical analysis and modeling of genomic measurements, manufacturing and QC inputs and outputs, and other data as required.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience
• PhD with 4+ years, Master’s with 6+ years, or Bachelor’s with 8+ years of relevant experience
• Degree in, or extensive practical experience with, Statistics or a closely related field
• Strong background in statistical analysis and experimental design
Technical Skills
• Strong experience in statistical modeling is required
• Proficiency in R or SAS
• Familiarity with machine learning techniques is preferred

• Experience with Python, shell scripting, Linux environments, and relational databases is preferred
• Knowledge of software development best practices, including version control
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and containerization technologies
Quality, Compliance & Collaboration

• Experience developing, testing, and documenting solutions in regulated environments
• Understanding of clinical and regulatory requirements for diagnostic applications
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects and collaborate across disciplines
