Job Summary: The incumbent serves as a Landscape Architect for one or more parks or programs. Open to the first 100 applicants or until 03/20/2026 whichever comes first. Major Duties:

  • The major duties of the Landscape Architect (Project Manager) include, but are not limited to, the following: Assists with the research, planning, treatment, and preservation maintenance of cultural landscapes. Performs project management activities throughout planning, design, and construction phases, coordinating with team members and tracking project goals. Monitors construction contracts on landscape projects by reviewing progress reports and participating in site visits to ensure compliance with design intent and contract requirements. Prepares and reviews technical documents including drawings, cost estimates, and specifications. Conducts on-site investigations of project sites to determine the feasibility of proposed projects, including the development of design alternatives. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.

Landscape Architect- 0807: Degree: landscape architecture or landscape design. --OR-- Combination of education and experience -- for each year short of graduation, the applicant must have had 1 year of experience under professional leadership and guidance of such character and diversity as to be a satisfactory substitute for the required education. This experience must have included original landscape design. - AND - To qualify for this position at the GS-9 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Prepare drawings and presentation documents for landscape concept and schematic design, design development, and construction document; Utilize AutoCAD or other drafting program to produce design documents including layout plan, planting plan, grading plan, and construction details. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least two (2) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree, with a major that is related to the duties of this position. You must include transcripts. -OR- Combination: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. You must include transcripts. To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Prepare drawings and presentation documents for landscape concept through construction documents; Utilize AutoCAD or other drafting program to produce design documents including layout plan, planting plan, grading plan, and construction details; Prepare or edit construction specifications; and Prepare construction cost estimate. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, with a major that is related to the duties of this position. You must include transcripts. -OR- Combination: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. You must include transcripts. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies". Experience listed as full-time will be credited at 40 hours per week. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
