What you'll do:

  • Partner closely with engineering, data science, product, and go-to-market teams to craft scalable, reliable, and efficient systems that enable seamless shopping and ad experiences for users and merchants.
  • Lead complex migrations, system consolidations, and platform evolutions that improve scalability, performance, and system simplicity.
  • Identify technical and business opportunities to expand the reach, quality, and efficiency of our shopping platforms, balancing near-term priorities with long-term vision.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and excellence—mentoring team members and building strong partnerships across the organization.
  • Champion a data-driven approach to product tradeoffs, prioritization, and measurement, with an unwavering focus on delivering impact for both Pinners and the business.
  • Stay at the forefront of e-commerce, catalog management, and recommendation system trends, ensuring we continue to deliver innovative and differentiated shopping experiences.

What we’re looking for:

  • 10+ years’ experience in product management or related technical leadership roles, with a clear record of building and launching large-scale backend or infrastructure products.
  • Domain expertise (preferred) in catalog content management, ecommerce infrastructure or platforms, or shopping recommendation and personalization systems.
  • Deep experience with commerce and ads infrastructure, including catalog management, feed ingestion, product data, high-scale storage, or high-throughput/low-latency serving architectures.
  • Demonstrated success in guiding cross-functional, multi-phase technical initiatives—especially large migrations, architecture redesigns, or system consolidations.
  • Analytical and strategic mindset, comfortable making high-accountability decisions and driving measurable business impact.
  • Exceptional communication and partnership skills, with experience influencing at all levels from technical contributors to senior executives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent; advanced degrees or equivalent industry experience a plus.
  • Preferred: experience scaling platforms to billions of items, working with internationalization/localization, and optimizing for both reliability and performance.
