The Customer Service Network (CSN) is part of the core product, channel, and platform businesses within Retail Technology. It plays a crucial role in managing customer interactions and services across the branch network. Our team leads and delivers CSN’s strategic programs to create value for our customers, employees, and shareholders.

As a Staff Platform Engineer, you will play a key role within the CSN crew. Your focus will be on driving operational excellence in the design, development, operation, and evolution of foundational tools, infrastructure, and automation across CBA and partner teams.

You will be responsible for enhancing DevSecOps maturity and SRE capabilities, shaping workforce strategy, and ensuring alignment with strategic targets. In this role, you will drive improvements in productivity, quality, reliability, and resilience, while optimising cloud expenditure and effectively managing technical debt, vulnerabilities, and feature delivery.

In addition, you will play a horizontal leadership role across the crew, enhancing platform engineering and DHP capabilities to ensure sustainable delivery and continuous improvement within the crew.

Overall, to be successful in this role you will:  

  • Guide and mentor the engineers of the CSN crew for Cloud Enablement.

  • Demonstrate design, build and management of AWS Cloud Infrastructure experience across Windows and Linux operating systems and its usage across different clusters of CBA ecosystem.

  • Provide critical support for AWS Cloud deployments, system integration, mainframe, and infrastructure issues.

  • Develop stubs to accelerate automation testing and enhance environment flexibility.

  • Collaborate with multiple technology teams to define and drive Technology Strategy Adoption for Cloud.

  • Communicate with senior management such as GM and stakeholders to ensure a clear path to execution

  • Perform complex problem resolution, root cause analysis and identification of improvement opportunities.

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for CSN applications and support their adoption in all Cloud environments.

  • Assist operation and application teams with issue debug, analysis, replication, and resolution in the Cloud environments.

  • Maintenance support for Cloud infrastructure such as closing vulnerabilities, server upgrades, provisioning, and migrations.

  • Actively participate in On-Call rosters from time to time to own resolution of any critical issues, ensuring the seamless operation of our systems, products and platforms.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have managed a team of up to 5 people with experience in domain such as:

  • Leading a cross-functional squad (team) in developing and operating technical products and services.

  • Large clusters operations using cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes, hosted within VMware Tanzu or native Linux (Ubuntu).

  • Experience with Cloud/AWS fundamental service (IAM, VPC and EC2). 

  • Experience working with large and complex programmes of work.

  • Understanding of DevOps/SRE Best Practices: Logging, Monitoring, Security.

  • Experience as Software Engineer/ DevOps / SRE / System Engineer in Cloud environment.

  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira, Confluence and ServiceNow.

  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).

Tech skills 

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team:

  • Development skills such as C#, .NET, Python or Java

  • Container technology, Docker and Kubernetes/EKS

  • Infrastructure as Code such as CloudFormation and Terraform

  • Source control and CI/CD tooling such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Argo CD Artifactory and LaunchDarkly and Specmatic.

  • Kubernetes network and API security: Istio Service Mesh, Ingress Controller, API Gateway, OAuth2 

  • Monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, Observe and Obstack

  • General Networking protocols and architectures
