Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for a Staff Engineer Systems – C2BMC Solution Chief (26-121) to join our team of talented and diverse professionals. Based in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command, Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a crucial component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational tool that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations worldwide and regionally to enhance performance. C2BMC is vital for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future abilities of missile defense systems.

The Solution Chief is the Technical Authority and Chief Engineer for Spiral 8.2-7, providing engineering direction and oversight to Agile Release Trains while building strong relationships with internal and external customer technical staff. This position requires proven communication skills, extensive collaboration in planning and execution, quick issue resolution, and a focus on building confidence and cohesion within the C2BMC National Team. As the overall lead, technical expert, and point of contact for the baseline on the Solutions Management Team, the chosen candidate will assist the Solution Manager in identifying, establishing, and integrating the capabilities needed within the scope of work.

Essential Functions:

  • Will oversee the planning and execution of experimentation, digital design, enterprise development, integration, testing, analysis, and deployment of capabilities

  • Applies and/or develops highly advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories, and concepts; often works independently to resolve issues related to the development and implementation of operational programs

  • Plans R&D programs and suggests technological application solutions to achieve long-term goals

  • Typically serve as the main spokesperson to customers about the company's capabilities and future initiatives

  • The chosen candidate is responsible for overseeing all activities in accordance with established compliance requirements and program operating documentation

  • This includes managing, identifying, documenting, and addressing risks and opportunities

  • Equally important will be the focus on a continuous improvement strategy that puts into practice activities such as lessons learned, causal analysis, process improvement initiatives, and best practices aligned with the program vision

  • Proven leadership in developing large-scale software programs

  • Ability to quickly shape, adapt, and align customer needs with overall goals in a rapidly changing environment

  • Technical expertise and depth in process development skills, including vision and strategy generation and execution, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, leaders, and development teams

  • Knowledge of Technical Performance Measures and experience in identifying, developing, and advancing program success through metrics

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in STEM Computer Science, System Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 12 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a STEM-related field with 10 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related discipline with 8 years of relevant work experience

  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the eligibility to be read onto SCI

  • Must have experience with digital lifecycle best practices using emerging processes within communities of practice (e.g., AGILE, DEVSECOPS, MBSE, Model-Based Test, Automated Test)

  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs

  • Experience with extensive, multi-domain level C2 systems and their evolution

  • Previous leadership experience in the C2 domain with proven skills in software development

  • Experience demonstrating a high level of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness

  • Previous managerial or leadership experience and relevant skills

  • Previous experience as customer advocate with the ability to work within a multi-faceted, multi-company team environment

  • Experienced in the complete program development life cycle, including emerging digital environments for requirements, hardware, software, firmware, components, products, systems, integration, testing, operations, and sustainment

CO: $161,400 - $241,400

AL: $169,000 - $253,600

Primary Level Salary Range: $161,000.00 - $253,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
