Job Title: Staff Data Scientist – Generative AI, Predictive Analytics & IoT

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and independent Staff Data Scientist to join our Data Science & Analytics team. This role focuses on leading generative AI initiatives, building predictive models for industrial IoT applications, and delivering end-to-end data-driven solutions to support operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience, strong technical depth across GenAI/LLM, machine learning, and IoT analytics, with proven ability to independently drive projects from conception to production.

On a typical day you will:

Generative AI & LLM Applications

· Lead the design and implementation of GenAI/LLM solutions for industrial use cases, including:

o Compliance document Q&A and automated assessment systems

o Failure mode classification and root cause analysis from unstructured data

o Multimodal AI applications combining vision and language models for defect detection and reporting

· Develop and optimize prompt engineering strategies and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines for production deployment

· Fine-tune and deploy large language models using Azure OpenAI, Databricks, or open-source LLMs (e.g., Llama, Mistral)

· Evaluate and integrate emerging GenAI technologies to solve real-world business problems

Predictive Modeling & Machine Learning

· Build and deploy predictive models for industrial scenarios such as predictive maintenance, quality prediction, and yield optimization

· Lead end-to-end ML workflows including data quality verification, exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, model training, and performance optimization

· Develop rule engines and hybrid AI systems combining traditional ML with business logic

Industrial IoT Analytics & Solutions

· Participate in industrial IoT projects, providing end-to-end data solutions from sensor data ingestion to actionable business insights

· Analyze time-series data from IoT sensors (e.g., equipment telemetry, production logs) for anomaly detection, pattern recognition, and operational optimization

· Design and implement data reporting and visualization solutions tailored to operational and site-specific business requirements

· Collaborate with domain experts to translate complex business problems into analytical solutions

Leadership & Collaboration

· Independently drive projects from problem definition through production deployment with minimal supervision

· Collaborate cross-functionally with QA, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery

· Mentor junior team members and contribute to technical best practices and knowledge sharing

· Document development processes and design decisions in English, and maintain version control using Git

What You Will Need to be Successful:

· Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, or related field; Master's or PhD preferred

· Minimum 8 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or AI-related roles

· Proven experience in industrial/manufacturing IoT projects (e.g., predictive maintenance, quality analytics, OEE optimization, or similar domains)

· Strong hands-on experience with GenAI/LLMs, including:

o Azure OpenAI, OpenAI API, or open-source LLM frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex)

o Prompt engineering, RAG architecture, and model fine-tuning techniques

o Experience deploying LLM-based applications in production environments

· Proficient in Python and Spark, with hands-on experience in libraries such as Pandas, Scikit-learn, PySpark, Spark MLlib, and GenAI frameworks

· Experience with Azure Cloud (Databricks, Data Factory, IoT Hub, Azure OpenAI) or AWS equivalent – required

· Solid understanding of time-series analysis, anomaly detection, and statistical modeling for IoT data

· Experience with Databricks for managing ML experiments, building LLM services, and performing model fine-tuning

· Strong SQL skills and understanding of database performance optimization

· Familiar with Python unit testing frameworks such as Pytest and UnitTest

· Experience with Web APIs, with attention to performance and security

· Familiar with Git for branch and version control

· Excellent communication skills and ability to write and read English technical documentation

· Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead complex projects end-to-end

Nice to Have

· Domain knowledge in semiconductor, manufacturing, energy, or industrial automation industries

· Experience with MLOps practices (CI/CD for ML, model monitoring, A/B testing)

· Familiarity with multimodal AI models (e.g., GPT-4V, CLIP, or similar vision-language models)

· Experience contributing to open-source projects or participating in technical community discussions

· Publications or presentations at industry conferences or technical forums
