The Denver Police Department is looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Stable Master to join our team and take pride in the daily care, management, and well-being of our horses and facilities. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a barn environment, values organization and routine, and has a genuine passion for equine care. The ideal candidate will bring strong horsemanship skills, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset to oversee feeding schedules, stall maintenance, health monitoring, and coordination with staff and veterinarians. Job responsibilities include:

  • Providing daily care to the horses

  • Monitor the health of the horses, notifying medical personnel regarding any issues

  • Administration of health care procedures prescribed by a veterinarian 

  • Observe all common safety practices associated with the care and maintenance of horses  

  • Maintenance of facilities and horse stables

  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment by disposing horse manure from horse stalls

  • Orders and stocks necessary items and supply for maintenance of horses and facilities

  • Performs minor repairs and maintenance on transportation equipment for horses

  • Performs general clerical functions

  • Transporting and delivering equipment

About You

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Familiarity with horses’ common behavior

  • Knowledge in performing diagnostic procedures for horses

  • Passion for the safety and wellbeing of horses

  • General mechanical aptitude

  • Problem solving ability 

  • Dependability and attention to detail

  • Basic computer skills and basic typing skills

  • A positive attitude

  • Sound judgement

Below are the minimum requirements used to determine eligibility for this position:

  • Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.

  • Experience Requirement: One (1) year of experience working with horses and related facilities and equipment.

  • Education/Experience Equivalency: None

  • License/Certifications: This job requires driving. Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.


Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
