The Stable Assistant supports the daily operations of the Mount Holyoke College Equestrian Center by providing high-quality care for horses and maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and organization of the stables. This role is essential in fostering a welcoming and professional environment for students, boarders, and visitors, while ensuring the health and well-being of the college’s equine partners.
This is an essential worker role. The days and hours are Friday-Monday 5AM - 1PM and Tuesday 12:30PM - 8:30PM.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily feeding, watering, and supplement administration.
Turning out and bringing in horses safely.
Cleaning 10–13 stalls daily and maintaining general barn cleanliness.
Operating farm equipment (tractors) and maintaining arenas.
Collaborating with the Stable Manager to ensure a professional environment.
Qualifications:
Required: Prior horse handling and farm experience; ability to work independently and on a team; basic Google Sheets skills.
Preferred: Tractor experience, arena maintenance skills, and equine first aid knowledge.
Requirement: Ability to work in all weather conditions and on holidays.
Hiring Range: $21.44 - $23.58
