Job Description:

The Stable Assistant supports the daily operations of the Mount Holyoke College Equestrian Center by providing high-quality care for horses and maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and organization of the stables. This role is essential in fostering a welcoming and professional environment for students, boarders, and visitors, while ensuring the health and well-being of the college’s equine partners.

This is an essential worker role. The days and hours are Friday-Monday 5AM - 1PM and Tuesday 12:30PM - 8:30PM. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily feeding, watering, and supplement administration.

  • Turning out and bringing in horses safely.

  • Cleaning 10–13 stalls daily and maintaining general barn cleanliness.

  • Operating farm equipment (tractors) and maintaining arenas.

  • Collaborating with the Stable Manager to ensure a professional environment.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Prior horse handling and farm experience; ability to work independently and on a team; basic Google Sheets skills.

  • Preferred: Tractor experience, arena maintenance skills, and equine first aid knowledge.

  • Requirement: Ability to work in all weather conditions and on holidays.

Hiring Range: $21.44 - $23.58
