This position is responsible for supporting the turbine/generator engineering group with mechanical troubleshooting on all turbine/generators while in operation and while undergoing inspection/maintenance/repair during in scheduled outages. This position is responsible for providing mechanical field technical oversight and direction for assigned turbine, generator, excitation, boiler feed-pump, and associated projects, including scope development, technical inspection and repair specification. Incumbent will assist with the development and execution of contractor and vendor requirements, project scheduling input, formation and development of turbine project team structure, and delivery of written or verbal communications and presentations. Incumbent must be able to provide technical leadership and project oversight for multiple internal and external project organization members to ensure efficient project execution. Incumbents would be expected to manage multiple (2 to 3) projects in various stages of development, planning and execution.
This position is responsible for providing technical and/or project leadership for assigned generator and associated projects at nuclear, fossil and combustion turbine plants. The incumbent will be expected to
Work with various levels of management, craft and technical disciplines
Assists with equipment condition and failure causes based upon knowledge, experience and available O&M records and process information
Assist engineering with trouble shooting and development of theories to solve problems Work with engineering to determine electrical component replacements in existing systems
Support technical and economic analysis of capital investment alternatives
Assists with placing new systems in service to including on-site consulting/overview of installation and preparation of equipment for service
Provide support for technical reviews and input for electrical equipment procurement and installation specifications and electrical generator and rotor testing
Provide technical direction for the planning, inspection and repair of generators rotors and associated equipment. Examples: support electrical teams during outages, non-outage and emergent situations in support of maintenance of equipment, troubleshooting, procurement of components, and vendor interface.
Provide communications interface with contractors/vendors and informs outage management of budget, schedule and quality issues. Also provides suggestions and proposals to correct issues that negatively impact budget, schedule and work quality.
Provide outage reports on project and recommendations on any outstanding issues needing future repair or inspection. Examples: Supporting Electrical Teams by contacting and tracking work performed off site at vendor’s shop
Provide outage schedules for assigned projects that identify shortest outage duration without compromising safety, quality, or reliability
Ensure materials purchased meet high quality standards, budget constraints and schedule requirements by selecting vendors based on prescribed standards for quality, price and reliability
Ensure safety is considered first in all work tasks.
Review drawings to ensure correct field installation per design.
Ensure best practices associated with installation of generator electrical equipment are adhered to.
Monitor schedule activities for completeness.
Participate in system walk downs for system turn-over for generators and associated systems.
Support troubleshooting activities, provide vendor oversight guidance and review all electrical testing

Associates degree
6 years of related experience
In Lieu of Associates degree and 6 years of related experience, High School / GED and 8 years of related experience
Two year technical associates degree in electrical / electronic required
9 or more years of hands on experience with electrical equipment required and preferably Generator/Exciter/AVR equipment
4 year degree in electrical
Proficient with use of Microsoft Office Products
Electrically and Mechanically inclined
Organized
Hands on experience with Turbine/Generator equipment (GE/Westinghouse/Toshiba)
This position has a safe working weight restriction of 275 lbs. as an essential function of the job
Must obtain and maintain unescorted Nuclear Access
This position has a residency requirement to be within 30 miles of base location (primary residence)
This person may be required to work nights, weekends, and overtime and travel as needed to meet project deadlines
