As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the strategic development and continuous improvement of software systems for cutting-edge aerospace applications. You will lead cross-functional teams and projects to ensure software excellence.

Join our simulation software team! We provide software simulation solutions emulating and simulating operations from aircraft. Our emulations are close to real world enabling our users to train within the sim for hard to train tasks, log flights hours, and learn TTPs. This is an exciting and impactful role with the ability to influence software and systems designs, implementations, and delivery with an engaged customer and user community.

The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic projects to develop and optimize software systems for aerospace applications.

  • Collaborate with design, hardware, and quality teams to ensure software meets performance and quality standards.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive software documentation, including design specifications and user manuals.

  • Mentor and coach junior engineers on best practices and technical skills.

  • Conduct advanced code reviews and provide constructive feedback.

  • Define and implement software requirements and specifications in collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Drive and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance software performance and reliability.

  • Ensure software compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Communicate with program leadership and customer stakeholders

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in experience in software development.

  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.

  • Expert proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Java, or Python.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices.

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Current/Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Extensive background in Aerospace and Defense industry.

  • Understanding of industry standard software languages such as C#, C++, Java, and Python.

  • Experience with software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repository, and automated build.

  • Knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral.

  • Proficient with data structures.

  • Experience with simulation software

  • Experience with simulation or emulation software development

  • Experience with DoD environments

  • Awareness of cybersecurity requirements for software development

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.

  • Hand/finger dexterity for coding and testing.

  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment with occasional travel.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $143,487.14 - $197,294.82. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
