Sr Quality Assurance Representative/Welding Inspector

Job Description

This position will perform general duties as a Quality Assurance including interpretation of Site, National, and DOE requirements and site procedures, and representing organization with customer and others on QA programmatic matters.  Develop and support training required to implement procedures. We seek expertise in piping, welding, and mechanical systems to oversee quality assurance and control activities for nuclear, industrial, or construction projects.

Responsibilities:

•Develop, document and communicate the planning of QA support functions through the project life cycle, including estimating resources necessary to provide QA support functions from conceptual design through turnover to operations.

•  Ensure adherence to applicable codes (e.g., ASME, AWS), standards, and project specifications.

•  Develop, review, and implement Inspection Plans (IPs), Inspection Reports (IRs), specifications, and procedures.

•  Provide technical expertise and oversight for welding processes, including procedure qualification, welder qualification, and weld inspections.

•  Conduct reviews, audits, and observations to ensure compliance with the established quality program.

•  Manage and verify subcontractor compliance with project quality requirements.

• Plan, prepare, conduct and report on monitoring of quality-related activities in assigned areas.

•Incorporate conventional QA engineering or scientific practices and a variety of complex features such as enhanced quality requirements, application of new or special requirements or processes, and difficult coordination of oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.  Provide limited guidance and direction to less experienced QA and technical personnel.

•Support facility/project needs within assigned area by conducting reviews/ approvals in the areas such as procedures procurement documents, design output documents, etc.  Review of selected safety related engineering deliverables (e.g., Design Change Forms, Design Change Packages, Technical and procurement specifications, Supplier Deviation Disposition Requests, Quality Assessment Reports, Conceptual Design Reports, and Software Quality Assurance Plans).

•Some business travel will be required.

•May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Education

Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (engineering or science) and 8+ years relevant work experience in the fields of operations, maintenance, construction or industrial manufacturing;

OR

-Bachelor’s degree in a non-technical discipline and 10+ years relevant work experience as described above; OR

-Associates degree and 16+ years relevant work experience as described above; OR

-High School diploma or GED and 25+ years combination of education and/or relevant work experience as described above.

Note: A two-year technical diploma will be considered equivalent to an Associates degree.

•General computer skills for preparing documents and use of spreadsheets for compiling and analyzing data

•Knowledge in the theory and application of assessment and audit techniques and practices, and NQA-1 Program implementation

•Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen.

 

Preferred Qualifications

•Strong written and oral communication, teamwork and vendor interface coordination skills.

•Highly organized and efficient without supervision

•Ability to multi-task and pivot seamlessly form task to task

•Ability to perform work with a positive attitude and accept constructive coaching for the betterment of the final work product.

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) required (valid certification).

  •  Level II Visual Testing (VT) certification or equivalent preferred.

  •  Additional certifications in NDE methods (PT, MT, UT, RT) are a plus.

  •  OSHA 10-hour training or equivalent safety certification preferred.

•  Proficiency in welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW-P, GTAT) and equipment (e.g., Liburdi, Magnatec, Swagelok, Arc Machines).

  •  Familiarity with materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, Chrome Moly, Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy, and Alloy 20.

  •  Experience with quality management software (e.g., Codeman, Bluebeam, SharePoint) and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).

•Experience in commercial nuclear power QA or Department of Energy nuclear facility QA

•Current NQA-1 auditor or lead auditor qualifications

•General math knowledge (e.g., statistics, algebra, geometry) to complement field experience,

•Current ANSI QC Certifications, American Welding Society CWI

 

       

Compensation Details:

120,000
