Altium is transforming the way electronics are designed and built. From startups to world’s technology giants, our digital platforms give more power to PCB designers, supply chain, and manufacturing, letting them collaborate as never before.
About the role:
The Senior QA Engineer on the Duro Design team defines, builds, and scales the quality systems that ensure hardware engineers can rely on our platform every day. You’ll architect and implement quality strategy across our modern stack—from frontend interfaces to backend services—embedding confidence into how we design, ship, and operate software. This role partners closely with engineering, product, and DevOps teammates in a fast-moving, highly autonomous environment.
We’re looking for engineers who think systemically about risk, embrace experimentation, and leverage modern AI-powered workflows to elevate quality across the organization. This is a hybrid role based in Los Angeles, CA (3 days per week in office).
A day in the life of our Senior QA Engineer:
Quality Strategy Ownership: Define and evolve our end-to-end quality strategy, determining what gets tested, at which layer, and how coverage maps to real user risk.
Test Architecture: Design and maintain scalable test infrastructure across unit, integration, and end-to-end layers using modern frameworks such as Vitest, Jest, and Playwright.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner early with product and engineering teams to ensure features are testable by design and quality is embedded before code reaches production.
Full Stack Validation: Validate React interfaces, GraphQL APIs, and PostgreSQL data integrity to ensure system-wide reliability.
CI/CD Optimization: Architect and refine test pipelines in GitHub Actions (or similar) to balance speed, coverage, and deployment confidence.
Experimentation & Analytics: Leverage PostHog session replays, feature flags, and analytics to detect regressions, surface edge cases, and proactively identify risk.
AI-Driven Quality Engineering: Utilize AI-augmented development workflows to generate test scaffolding, explore edge cases, and increase velocity while maintaining rigorous standards.
Continuous Improvement: Lead regression analysis and incident retrospectives, transforming defects into systemic improvements that strengthen long-term product resilience.
Who We’re Looking For
Required:
8+ years of professional experience in software quality engineering or software engineering with strong ownership of quality systems
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern testing frameworks such as Vitest, Jest, and Playwright
Experience testing React frontends and GraphQL-based APIs
Experience working with PostgreSQL and validating data integrity across service layers
Hands-on experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar)
Strong architectural thinking with the ability to design scalable, maintainable quality systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Comfort operating in autonomous, fast-paced environments
A product mindset with the ability to anticipate risk across the full feature lifecycle
Nice to Have:
Experience building PLM, PDM, or hardware/manufacturing industry software
Background in performance, load, or stress testing
Experience with visual regression testing tools (Percy, Chromatic, BackstopJS)
Familiarity with contract testing (Pact or similar)
Experience defining release readiness criteria or quality SLAs
Experience working in AI-augmented development environments
How We Build
We don’t hire testers. We hire engineers who elevate quality.
At Duro, AI is integrated into our engineering workflows. Engineers leverage AI-powered development environments to orchestrate tasks, structure context, and accelerate delivery while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship.
We value:
Architectural intuition — understanding systems before implementing them
Precision in communication — clear requirements produce strong outcomes
Pattern recognition — knowing when to abstract, reuse, or experiment
Product taste — recognizing quality and refining toward excellence
Intellectual curiosity — continuously improving how we build
We optimize for engineers who can look at a roadmap, anticipate where quality risk will concentrate, and design systems that enable teams to ship quickly with confidence.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $150,000 to $175,000 annually. Actual compensation packages within this range are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate and role requirements, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific location.
