About the role

As a Royalties Manager on the Financial Contract Reporting (FCR) team, you will play a leadership role in delivering accurate and timely royalty reporting across Crunchyroll’s global content portfolio. This position sits at the intersection of finance, legal, and operations requiring a strong analytical foundation and the ability to interpret complex agreements and financial data. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across the globe to support royalty reporting, drive process improvements, and ensure contractual compliance with licensors and content partners.

This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented finance professional with deep experience in royalty or participation reporting ideally within the media or entertainment industry who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working through the complexities of content accounting and rights management.

  • Own the end-to-end royalty reporting lifecycle, including calculation, review, statement preparation, delivery, and licensor communications. 
  • Work with global counterparts to ensure alignment of Royalty processes and tracking of financial components impacting reporting and payouts (Revenue, P&A costs, Advances shortfalls)
  • Play a leading role in calculating quarterly royalty expense accruals, ensuring alignment with contractual terms and accounting policy.
  • Partner with the Content Accounting team to ensure accurate treatment of content costs, advances, minimum guarantees, P&A costs, and recoupment structures
  • Serve as the primary contact to Content Accounting, FP&A, and Technology teams on royalty expense reporting related matters
  • Work closely with global counterparts as needed to ensure global consistency in royalty processes, reporting standards, and financial data inputs
  • Lead and support royalty system implementations, integrations, enhancements, and testing, including data validation and cleansing efforts
  • Drive process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, controls, and scalability across royalty and content expense workflows
  • Prepare detailed financial analyses and executive-level reporting related to royalty expense, and title performance as needed
  • Support senior leadership with ad hoc analysis, and insights related to royalty expense reporting
  • Mentor and provide guidance to analysts and senior analysts, promoting best practices, documentation, and cross-training
  • Establish standardized procedures, controls, and documentation to support team growth and audit readiness
  • ​​Manage performance for direct reports, including goal setting, coaching, and career development planning.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment, ensuring team members have the resources and support needed to meet objectives.

This role is based in the Los Angelas office and works a hybrid schedule.  

About You

  • 5+ years of experience in royalty reporting, participation accounting, content accounting, or related financial roles, within media or entertainment
  • Deep experience with royalty expense accounting, accruals, reconciliations, and contractual interpretation
  • Experience with global deal reporting and analysis in a large corporate setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret legal agreements.
  • Proven ability to manage and analyze large, complex datasets with a high degree of accuracy
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and demonstrate adaptability to change 
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Hands-on approach with a willingness to mentor others, streamline processes, and drive efficiency.
  • Familiarity with large-scale ERP and royalty systems 
  • Advance-level Excel skills (advanced formulas, pivots, lookups, large data sets a plus)

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees.
