The Opportunity
This position is an onsite opportunity in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division in Alameda, CA. We are helping people with Diabetes lead healthier, happier lives. Consistent and accurate glucose monitoring is the foundation of any diabetes management plan, so we’re committed to continuous improvement in the way patients and professionals measure, track and analyze glucose levels.
As a Project Manager, you will define, plan, coordinate and integrate activities associated with upgrades/changes to existing products or new product launches. These activities include coordination of artwork and packaging, in house and third-party manufacturing, inventory phase in and phase out, procurement and all other manufacturing/operations/supply chain activities. In addition, you will document and maintain all project related plans, schedules, meeting minutes, and provide management reviews of project status and progress.
What You’ll Work On
- Interface with other disciplines, internal clients, project staff and internal and external experts as required. Coordinate all cross functional activities associated with launching new products or changing existing products.
- Coordinate activities from engineering development or existing product change requests through launch or change implementations for all configurations and markets.
- Develop and maintain launch plans such that needed commercial product volumes are available on time and that excess and obsolete inventory is minimized.
- Help to prioritize activities among several programs to balance resource availability, program status and schedule, and business need.
- Hold regular project meetings to coordinate and document all activities with functional areas including ALD, Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, Operations, R&D, and Commercial.
- Document meeting minutes, action lists, tracking lists and open issues.
- Work with functional team to anticipate and solve problems.
- Participate in review meetings representing project team.
- Responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of the quality system.
- Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and performing other duties as assigned by management.
- Prepare and present written and oral reports and other presentations. Interact with senior level management to present significant Program strategies.
- Anticipate future problems, resolve current issues, and adjust based on prior results.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in a discipline appropriate to the project environment. Degree in a technical or scientific discipline or equivalent experience relevant to the project arena preferred.
- Advanced degree, Project Management Professional (PMP) or Lean Six Sigma (LSS) certification considered a plus.
- Minimum 5 years, Project management experience (or equivalent) with at least 3 years experience leading projects involving the application of general business principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a large/complex company environment preferred. Technical, manufacturing, quality, or supply chain experience in a health care/medical company considered a plus.

- Previous experience in product development or manufacturing in a medical device environment
