The Sr. Program Manager will serve as the bridge from strategy to execution for multiple strategic programs and initiatives across the Transformation team. This role involves working closely with Engineering and Transformation office leaders to oversee and manage special projects, ensure timely reporting on product releases, and facilitate cross-functional meetings to ensure objectives are met. The Sr. Program Manager will create, manage, and execute detailed program schedules, reports, and analysis to ensure planned achievement of milestones. They keep stakeholders informed and demonstrate strategic thinking for reducing program risks and maximizing program benefits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads special complex projects, initiatives, and programs involving partners across USHE and SEI.
- Partner closely with the engineering team to monitor sprint progress, remove blockers, and ensure software milestones are delivered on time.
- Oversee the delivery of enterprise software solutions across multiple business units, ensuring requirements are well-defined, tested, and deployed effectively to achieve intended business outcomes.
- Works with program leadership and business/project owners to ensure business cases are built, solutions are defined, and proposal level estimates are gathered.
- Orchestrates project and workstream tasks and timelines – ability to turn concept into action and manage interdependencies across workstreams.
- Works with other departments to secure resources/support needs for delivery.
- Prepares and facilitates all project/program meetings, leadership alignment meetings, and process improvement discussions.
- Maintains roadmaps and oversees critical milestones across programs to support progress, and prioritization.
- Proactively identifies issues that could impact successful execution of project/program.
- Drives decision making amongst partner teams by using facts, capacity constraints, and prioritization exercises in regard to proposed project plans and activities.
- Leads and directs the work of others through influence.
- Develop and deliver clear, executive-ready communications like program updates, dashboards, business cases, and presentations.
Job Skills:
- Deep understanding of design, development, testing, and deployment processes (SDLC).
- Agile / Scrum / Kanban Methodologies – hands on experience leading sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog management.
- Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to understand system architecture, APIs, integrations and data flows to effectively communicate with engineers.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, release management, and deployment practices.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Experience in Agile frameworks is highly desirable.
- Change management experience in guiding organizations through transformation initiatives and technology adoption.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in programming management, preferably in a technology-focused environment.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Computer Science, or related field.
Certificates, licenses and registrations:
- PMP certification is a plus.
Other:
- Must be able to travel occasionally should a business need arise. For most roles travel would not be common. Travel may involve plane, car or metro.
