Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is currently seeking a Sr. Principal Project Manager to join our Navigation/Inertial Measurement System team for the Sentinel program located in Salt Lake City, UT.

This position is for the project engineer responsible for the NIMS program operations team, currently in the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase. This position is very fast-paced and presents challenges such as tight deadlines and constant changes. You must be comfortable communicating and presenting with all levels of management/leadership as you will be the Control Account Manager (CAM) for the Salt Lake City manufacturing readiness non-recurring engineering tasks and Production Representative unit build and test. You will work closely with the design team coordinating and budgeting changes, aligning schedules, and providing feedback. You will coordinate all non-recurring activity with the Salt Lake City team and work closely with the SLC Integrated Product Team Lead, Operations Program Manager, Scheduler, and Integrated Product Team members. 

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Responsible for managing nonrecurring tasks and projects including accountability for cost, schedule & performance through all phases and execution of transition to production activities of the developed systems to program and functional manufacturing spaces

  • Coordinates/leads multi-disciplined teams to solve complex technical problems (design and/or manufacturing related)

  • Directly supports various IPTL and customers as the Control Account Manager for Salt Lake City activity including program risk and opportunity management

  • Presents at program reviews to directors and vice presidents

Basic Qualifications for the Sr. Principal Project Manager:  

  • A bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience; OR a master's degree and 6 or more years or relevant work experience.

  • Control Account Management experience.

  • Earned Value Management experience.

  • Experience managing labor and material work packages and multiple earned value techniques.

  • Broad based engineering experience across multiple disciplines

  • Experience using project management tools and understanding of practices

  • Experience planning and executing complex technical projects with little or no direction.

  • Experience presenting data and coordinating with senior program and operations leadership.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Level Security Clearance .

  • US Citizenship required.

  Preferred Qualifications for the Sr. Principal Project Manager:  

  • Experience as a Control Account Manager or Earned Value Management on a large development program

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

  • Earned Value CAM experience with scope over $50M

  • Experience working on a large engineering, manufacturing development program.

  • Extensive experience working with technical drawings and specifications

  • Extensive experience planning and managing technical projects

  • Experience with Inertial systems, Inertial sensors and related technology and have knowledge of manufacturing systems

  • Experience with assembly & test processes

  • Experience with SAP ERP system

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Management

Primary Level Salary Range: $101,400.00 - $152,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
