Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr Principal Project Manager. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You’ll Get To Do:

Project Management position, managing and overseeing the operational aspects of the Integrated Functional Capability Team projects within the Sentinel (GBSD) Program. Supports the IPT lead in program execution utilizing scheduling, integration and agile and agile methodologies to coordinate hardware and software development timelines. The candidate should be comfortable with varying, fast paced degrees of work day to day, from running executive level meetings to working in a lab, ground, or flight test environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between Mission Assurance, Integration and Test Organization, Shipping and Receiving and Project teams.

  • Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.

  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving.

  • Prepares and manages schedules and prepares status reports on the health of the projects.

  • Identifies risks and opportunities and coordinates with project teams to mitigate and retire risks.

  • Evaluates issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals and objectives.

  • Prepares heading check executive level briefings for management and develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress.

  • Must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment, work autonomously under general direction and demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills.

  • Provides Agile execution support across sub-IPTs.

  • Supports design, updates, and maintenance of dashboards tracking technical and program performance through metrics.

  • Implements process improvement techniques to reduce program risk to the IFC certification efforts.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years of related experience; master's degree and 6 years’ experience; PhD and 4 years’ experience. An additional 4 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD security clearance (Secret, Top Secret; etc.)

  • At least 4 years of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule.

  • Demonstrated track record/ experience in project management/ execution and closeout.

  • Skilled use of Microsoft Office Products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management principles.

  • Capable of working with minimal direction, independently determines and develops technical objectives of assignments, and presents work upon completion for high level review.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, peers, and customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP Certification.

  • Firm understanding and application of Earned Value Management System (EVMS).

  • 3 years of experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) principles and application or as a Cost Account Manager (CAM).

  • Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization and with outside organizations.

  • Executive presence and comfort in communications at that level.

Primary Level Salary Range: $101,400.00 - $152,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
