Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Process Engineer  – Level 4 to join our team in Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, FL. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

  

This position is for an experienced hydraulic test engineer working on hydraulic pumps for NASA’s Space Launch System flight vehicle.  This will include complete refurbishment, assembly, and dynamic/static acceptance testing of aerospace hydraulic pumps. This role also involves preventative maintenance, calibrations, and troubleshooting potential problems to resolution of the test and production support equipment.

This position will work a 4/10 schedule, with every Friday off. As demand increases, we can strongly anticipate scheduled Friday workdays, the possibility of rotating shifts, and the need for overtime.

In this job, you will:

  • This position will be responsible for performing hydraulic pump testing and troubleshooting when necessary. 

  • Generate/update electronic planning for both hardware testing and production support equipment maintenance.

  • Monitor and analyze hydraulic test data to ensure hydraulic characteristics fall within established specifications. Maintain meticulous records of testing results.

  • Disposition non-conforming material/components through Material Review Board (MRB) process.

  • Complete refurbishment, assembly, and dynamic/static acceptance testing of aerospace hydraulic pumps.

  • Other duties as assigned

  

Basic Qualifications:

  • STEM Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience – OR – STEM Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience – OR – STEM PhD with 4 years of relevant experience. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related fields   

  • No clearance required to start

  • Significant hydraulic test system experience with ability to identify root causes of failures in test benches.

  • Strong communication skills in terms of presentations and writing detailed technical reports.

  • Must have hydraulic pump experience.

  • Must be able to read and interpret hydraulic/pneumatic and electrical schematics.

  • Must be able to work overtime/weekends and/or second shift work schedule.

 Preferred Qualifications:  

  • National Instruments (NI) controls and data acquisition systems

  • Labview

  • Strong background in industrial machinery

  • Aerospace / Defense hydraulic pump processing

  • MATLAB

  • Maximo

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards 

Primary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 - $167,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
