Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.
The selected candidate will provide Lab design, integration and systems engineering support for system and software engineering labs. The Candidate will Design and develop system architectures, and defines key capabilities and performance requirements. Defines design and technology maturity constraints of the system in accordance with customer specifications. Develops thorough definition of system external interfaces. Defines system implementation approach and operational concept. Ensures requirements are met and evaluates performance with customers. The candidate will develop thorough definition of system requirements and requirement verifications.
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

- Applies extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.

- Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
- Discretion/Latitude:
- Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective, for desired results.

- Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.
- Liaison:
- Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often require coordination between organizations.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or STEM Degree plus 9 years of work related experience in electrical wiring design, and troubleshooting system installations OR
- Master’s Degree in STEM and 7+ years of experience OR
- PhD in STEM and 4+ years of experience
- Experience with electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
- Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance (DoD must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AutoCAD Electrical Design Experience
- NX capital
- Manufacturing/liaison support experience is also desired to support build and installation of assemblies as well as testing of aircraft systems.
- Experience in developing and managing test requirements
- Experience in subsystem, payload, or system integration
- Knowledge of aircraft-type cable assemblies, MIL type wiring and components such as mil connectors, back shells, relays, switches, indicator lights, terminal junction system components, etc. using system level functional architecture and input from System Lead or Cognizant Engineer.

Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
