Senior Electro-Mechanical Technician (Part time Contract)
Job Description:
Twist is building several automated fluid handling stations. We are looking for a contract senior technician to assist us in the build-up and testing of these stations.
This is a 6 months contract with an average of 10 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Perform component testing as needed based on component documentation
- Perform mechanical sub-system and system assembly as needed, based on SolidWorks assembly drawings and BOM’s.
- Perform system wiring as needed. This includes wiring & cable termination, routing, securing, and electrical checks (continuity, voltage measurements with a DMM or oscilloscope).
- Perform mechanical alignment of components as needed
- Support sub-system and System testing.
- Provide redlines to existing assembly drawings and electrical schematics as needed
- Provide system wiring diagrams as needed

Required Skills:
- 10 years of experience as an electro-mechanical technician or a 2-year degree in mechanical or electrical/electronics design with 8 years of experience, or a 4-year degree in mechanical or electrical/electronics design with 4 years of experience
- Good experience navigating part and assembly drawings in SolidWorks or eDrawings
- Able to read electrical schematics & create wiring diagrams
- Proven ability to correctly interpret device electrical functions, as well as power & control signals required
- Proven ability to use soldering irons, crimping tools and general cable termination and strain-relief procedures
- Proven ability to build custom wiring harnesses and install them on custom prototype instrumentation, with input from other engineers.
- In-depth knowledge and use of hand tools, cordless tools, and measurement tools (calipers)
- Proven ability using assembly drawings and a Bill of Materials to determine which components are used in which locations, determining their orientation, and assembling them as shown
- Good eye-hand coordination working with small parts
- Comfortable using MS Office tools (Word, Excel)
- Excellent communication and writing skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Detail oriented
Additional Bonus Skills:
- 2 or 4-year degree in mechanical or electrical/electronics design
- Proven ability to use SolidWorks to create mechanical designs
- In-depth knowledge and use of machine shop tools (band saws, Mill, drill press, sanders)
- Experience performing electrical and electronics troubleshooting
- Experience with Altium, Lucid or other software tools that can be used to create wiring diagrams
