Job Summary

A Senior Physical Build Engineer is being sought by Micron Technology to contribute to the development of digital components for DRAM in advanced memory products. In this role, you will manage physical build starting at floorplanning and continuing to tape-out. You will work with RTL, verification, and CAD teams to develop high-quality, manufacturable solutions. You will play a key role in achieving aggressive power, performance, and area (PPA) targets using advanced RTL-to-GDS implementation flows.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute as a senior individual contributor responsible for physical design of DRAM digital blocks using advanced RTL-to-GDS flows.
  • Implement high-performance, power- and area-efficient physical designs including floorplanning, place and route, and clock tree synthesis.
  • Perform physical design signoff activities including static timing analysis, signal integrity, power integrity, and physical verification.
  • Collaborate closely with RTL and implementation teams to resolve timing, power, and integration challenges.
  • Apply power-, clock-, and implementation-aware physical design practices to reduce silicon risk and downstream iterations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 4+ years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of ASIC physical design experience.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering physical design for complex digital blocks from floorplanning through tape-out.
  • Hands-on experience with place and route, clock tree synthesis, and timing closure in advanced process technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of physical design signoff including STA, signal integrity, power integrity, and physical verification.
  • Experience using industry-standard physical design tools such as Synopsys ICC2 or Fusion Compiler and PrimeTime.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with low-power physical implementation techniques and their impact on timing, power, and reliability.
  • Solid understanding of CMOS technology, standard cell libraries, and physical effects in advanced nodes.
  • Experience collaborating across RTL, verification, CAD, and physical design teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to convey technical issues effectively.
  • Experience with memory or high-performance physical design is a strong plus.
