Laboratory Chemicals division (LCD) Scientific journeys begin with chemicals and end with life enriching results. We enable scientists to bring chemistry to life. We provide a broad range of chemicals and solutions supporting virtually every laboratory application, from research to drug discovery and development to manufacturing. We have a strong team of 1,400 colleagues across 12 global facilities, including Fair Lawn, New Jersey; Bridgewater, New Jersey; Ward Hill, Massachusetts; Heysham, UK; Loughborough, UK; Geel, Belgium; and Kandel, Germany.
New Chemical Manufacturing Facilities are being built at the Loughborough Site, and you will join us on the exciting journey of transitioning across processes.

Position Location: Loughborough
Day Shift: 7 am - 6 pm, 4-day week
Position Summary:
SCS Manufacturing and Packing Technician, primarily in SVS, but potentially in any area of the SCS Value Stream. The position will involve manufacturing and packing chemicals in accordance with Site and Departmental procedures and BPIs.
Summary of duties and responsibilities
Work as part of a team with your colleagues in SVS, to manufacture and pack chemicals
Manufacture chemicals, and complete associated paperwork, following all Site and Departmental procedures
Take samples for analysis and make adjustments to the batch based on the results
Fill finished goods packs, completing paperwork, pre-fill checks and quality checks
End of line pack as required
Responsible for maintaining your Manufacturing and Packing work areas in a safe and tidy condition; play an active role in 5S
Carry out routine safety inspections and quality checks including calibrations, daily and weekly checks of work area
Assist with the ordering and picking of raw materials
Assist with the daily planning and organisation of work
Complete transactions on Prism
Work closely with Engineering, proactively chasing up repairs and highlighting issues
Be aware of the hazardous nature of the materials being handled and possible compatibility problems.
Work in a team to complete COSHH assessments and risk assessments
Work with due care and attention and in accordance with prescribed safety guidelines, adhering to the company policy, including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Be prepared to move between SCS areas including SVS, Chemical Plants and Kilo lab – with cross training
Be prepared to move between Departments within the Company, depending on resource requirements.
Achieve and maintain departmental KPI metrics in accordance to targets.

Embrace and participate in PPI initiatives to identify improvements and cost savings to the business

Education:
Educated to CSE/GCSE
Willing to work variable shifts
Able to demonstrate basic IT skills (Excel, Word)
Strong team player
Good communication skills
Experience:
Some experience of handling chemicals e.g. from a Chemical Packing role or QC role
Ability to readily understand written and verbal instructions in English and complete documentation.
Able to work accurately with attention to detail
