Your Role at Baxter:

The Sr. Manufacturing Manager is a strategically important leader for the site, they are responsible for all aspects of production to ensure our products are safe, meet all quality standards, delivered on time and in full and at the right cost.

As a key leader to this site, they will ensure we are passionate about achieving the vision of this site to be the premier site at Baxter for talent, innovation, and operational excellence.  They will have direct responsibilities for guiding their team to ensure each of every member understands how they help to achieve our vision and ultimately fulfill our mission to save and sustain lives. 

This person will also help influence and coordinate outside the facility to ensure teams and resources are aligned to effectively execute on key projects and initiatives that are part of Manufacturing.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Establishes, or recommends to management, major corporate manufacturing strategies, objectives, and policies for company. Support the rollout of a Total Predictive Maintenance program to minimize equipment failures associated to predictable tendency.

  • Review production timetables and manages manufacturing activities to ensure production schedule adherence and quality of products align with specifications.

  • Reviews manufacturing engineering performance reports and resolves technical and upkeep issues to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

  • Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.

  • Drive value improvement programs.

  • Reviews production schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.

  • Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.

  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates production processes to ensure that the quality and output of products meet specifications.

  • Reviews production and operating reports and addresses operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to keep costs low and avert operational delays.

  • Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization through OEE.

  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.

  • Complies, stores, and retrieves production data.

  • Ability to communicate at all Plant levels, interacting with labor force to promote a teamwork environment.

  • Follow-up projects through completion.

  • Active participation on areas and plant meetings (weekly, monthly, annually) as requested.

  • Fill out area’s reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis as requested.

  • Fill out expense and allowance reports (daily, weekly, monthly, annually) upon request.

  • Perform physical inventory and reconcile differences (quarterly).

  • Develop areas budgetary requirements (annually) and forecasts (quarterly).

  • Drive the team to achieve the proposed goal in compliance to all internal and external regulations and standards.

  • Perform weekly, monthly, and annually reports as required.

  • Ensure all audits are responded on schedule.

  • Identify and complete long term strategic goals to ensure balanced competitive advantages by implementing operational strategies that ensure predictive and consistent results; and continuous improvement.

  • Identify, initiates and facilitates continuous improvements, lean manufacturing activities and initiatives, such as 6S, visual management, kaizen. 

  • Contribute to the implementation of quality initiatives such as internal and supplier performance metrics.

  • Develop and enhance managerial and leadership skills across the organization.

  • Develop teams and ensure personnel accountability.

  • Ensure regulatory knowledge and compliance.

  • Maintain Baxter’s commitment to high standards for compliance, passion and business integrity.

  • Consistent improvement of financial areas.

  • Capable of handling many projects and balancing multiple tasks at the same time.

  • Available to work Holidays, extra hours, or any shift when required (eg. Shutdowns, external audits-FDA, ISO 9002, Corporate-, special projects. Willing to travel. Must keep the work area clean and in order condition. Should be able to work within minimum supervision.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree required - MBA preferred - 10+ years manufacturing/operations experience including 3 years of leading leaders.

  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to effectively communicate—both verbally and in writing—in both languages.

  • Demonstrated ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Skilled in responding to inquiries or concerns from customers, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community in a professional and timely manner.

  • Strong professional writing and communication skills including reports, presentations, speeches, and articles, ensuring alignment with established style and format standards. Proven capability to clearly present complex information to diverse audiences. These include senior leadership within and beyond the organization, audit teams during regulatory or client inspections, and, when applicable, boards of directors.

  • Lead multiple priorities in a manufacturing plant setting. analyze and draw conclusions from scientific and statistical data.   Apply data analysis to solve problems and make strategic decisions. understand GMPs and other applicable regulatory guidelines and ability to handle audit-related activities.

  • Strong assessment and troubleshooting skills, collecting and analyzing data/information to resolve paths for process improvement and potential root cause. Ability to respond to detailed inquiries and present information to groups and senior leaders.

  • Validated critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Solid understanding of manufacturing business acumen.

  • Green or Black Belt certification preferred. Proven track record of meeting budgets, schedules and performance requirements and holding other accountable to the same.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
