Job Description
Sr. Manager, Regulatory Remediation
What is the opportunity?
The Sr. Manager, Regulatory Remediation is responsible for implementing best practices and guiding regulatory and audit remediation efforts for the RBC Technology Infrastructure (TI) group. You will be responsible for guiding TI project managers who lead and manage risk remediation efforts, for contributing to remediation plans (short term and long term) to mitigate technology risks, and for ensuring coverage of the regulatory remediation requirements. This role will work closely with infrastructure and other partners to identify mitigation and remediation plans and oversee the execution of risk remediation programs in alignment to RBC Risk Management Framework and regulatory expectations.
What will you do?
Guide stakeholders through the end-to-end risk remediation lifecycle, which includes crafting management responses, developing comprehensive action plans, defining success criteria, executing remediation requirements, and documenting the remediation for closure.
Provide risk oversight of remediation progress and ongoing adherence to regulatory requirements.
Execute a framework for evidence gathering and closure documentation creation that meets regulatory standards.
Ensure corrective actions directly address underlying causes and reduce residual risk to within the risk appetite.
Develop senior-level, risk-based reporting that distills complex remediation content into executive-ready insights on residual risk, risk appetite, control effectiveness, and sustainability.
Prepare issue owners for required tollgates and provide documentary evidence requirements for closure.
Oversee remediation working groups and escalation forums, and influence stakeholders across Technology, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit to remove blockers and hold remediation owners accountable.
Prepare regulator-ready materials (management responses, artifacts/evidence mapping, traceability matrices, closure narratives) that directly align to supervisory language and expectations.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Haves
Minimum of 7 years of experience in regulatory remediation, regulatory relations, or a similar role with a strong regulatory focus within large, complex financial institutions.
Direct experience closing issues to regulator expectations in the U.S. and Canada (e.g., working with management responses, closure packages, and evidence mapping).
Demonstrated ability to independently form and execute action plans in ambiguous environments and a proven track record of driving end-to-end outcomes.
Expert at senior-level, risk-based reporting—distilling complex remediation into executive-ready insights.
Deep knowledge of Three Lines of Defense practices, tollgates, and evidence standards for closure; ability to design success criteria and assess the sufficiency of evidence.
Exceptional written communication skills for LoD stakeholders, regulators, and senior leadership (clear, concise, evidence-backed, aligned to supervisory language).
Strong stakeholder influence and escalation judgment; ability to lead cross-functional forums and hold action owners accountable.
Ability to independently manage and prioritize multiple risk remediation projects simultaneously.
Strong problem-solving skills with a results-oriented mindset.
Nice-to-have
Regulatory experience with US, Canadian, UK, Caribbean, EU or APAC regulators is a plus.
Experience working for a US, Canadian, or international regulatory body.
Certifications or advanced degrees are a plus (e.g., CRISC, CISA, CISM, CAMS, CISSP, JD).
