This is a newly created role designed to strengthen and scale Commercial Excellence capabilities across Alcon’s Surgical business, offering a unique opportunity to help shape the structure, priorities, and impact of the function from the ground up.
As a Sr Manager, Commercial Excellence supporting Alcon's Surgical teams, you will be trusted to manage a team who conducts market and sales analysis on commercial data and information to ensure optimal sales execution and attainment of growth objectives. Your team will elevate the business units' capabilities through meaningful sales and market research information delivered through centralized and intuitive dashboards and scorecards at our Mississauga, Canada location. In this role, key responsibilities include:
Serve as the main CommEx contact for Canada Surgical organization, acting as the local liaison between country commercial leadership and the broader Americas Commercial Operations organization.
Manage and synthesize market data (sales data, competitive intelligence, market scenario development, profiling, market segmentation, etc.) to identify and assess opportunities and threats for assigned brands.
Responsible for the generation of actionable ad-hoc commercial analysis including, but not limited to segmentation/targeting, opportunity/risk assessments, and others.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify key metrics and insights that support business objectives.
Produce commercial monthly reports and weekly performance indicators as required.
Proactively maintain, monitor, assess needs, and manage the development of standard reports to support key performance indicators. Verifies the accuracy of the data and acts as liaison with technology partners in identifying and resolving problems.
Lead the process to produce and maintain territory sales quotas in accordance with the commercial business plan.
Lead the end-to-end sales force incentives process, preparing and controlling commission incentive budgets and payouts for territories with the highest accuracy. Responsible for the incentives process governance.
Drive system + process adoption and optimization, acting as a local expert for CommEx capabilities and driving the adoption of these platforms and their related processes.
Lead core CommEx processes by overseeing and continuously improving their execution in the market, including sales force sizing and structuring, territory design & alignment, customer segmentation refreshes, and other go-to-market optimizations, ensuring standard methodologies are applied locally in alignment with regional guidance.
Assess and refine CommEx data management practices to enhance alignment, scale, efficiency, and effectiveness. Enables automation initiatives to reduce manual processes and improve data accuracy.
Responsible for accurate 3rd party sales mapping, rebate adjustments, and other related sales sourcing processes.
Instruct and train commercial team members such as Sales, Marketing, and support staff in accessing and gaining value from CommEx sales and marketing analytics.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
Completed Bachelor’s Degree
5+ years in medical device or pharmaceutical industry, or MBA with internship experience.
2+ years of people management experience.
Good working knowledge of industry dynamics and trends, relevant product knowledge
Passion for data, insights, and effective visualizations
Ability to develop sound strategies to address the changing health care environment with an understanding of the ‘big picture’ and ability to translate that into specific actional plans to achieve results.
Business insight with proven analytical ability, organizational and networking skills
High attention to detail to ensure accuracy of insights.
Strong interpersonal, leadership and marketing skills paired with financial understanding.
Effective communicator who can explain complex ideas using clear and concise language.
Ability to develop strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators. Be a trusted advisor to internal leadership.
Experience in collaborating closely with commercial organizations and driving change management.
Effective people manager and coach who builds up their team.
System Skills Requirements: Microsoft Office suite of tools, SAP, Salesforce CRM, Tableau, Alteryx and AWS or similar systems, basic SQL.
Salary Range: $118,500 – $177,750 CAD Annually. Actual compensation will be based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
