We are seeking a lawyer to join our team as Senior Legal Counsel in Calgary Alberta or Edmonton Alberta office.
This position will report an Associate General Counsel in the LP & Corporate Law group of Enbridge’s Law Department, and will be a member of a small team of in-house lawyers who provide legal support our Strategic Projects & Partnerships group, Commercial Strategy and Business Development groups, System Optimization and Customer Service groups and Low Carbon Development group.
Particular focus of this position will be providing legal support with respect to antitrust/competition laws in connection with M&A transactions and business development projects on matters related to providing corporate and commercial support of pipeline transportation and storage transactions, commercial transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.

What You Will Do:
Provide legal support to Enbridge’s Liquids Pipelines business, which includes the development, construction, acquisition and operation of pipeline and storage facilities throughout North America.
Provide corporate and commercial legal advice with respect to structuring, drafting, reviewing, negotiating and interpreting contracts related to commercial transactions, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and JV’s involving Enbridge Inc. and its affiliates.
Legal support to other internal Enbridge departments and stakeholders, including Tax, Insurance, Credit, and Accounting.
Instructing and collaborating with external counsel as required to ensure that they are providing services in an effective and cost-efficient manner in accordance with Enbridge’s Outside Counsel Billing and Staffing Guidelines and managing legal matter budgets.
Advise internal clients on potential legal ramifications/risks of a course of action involving an Enbridge company, and propose possible mitigations to such risks.
Providing risk adjusted advice across a variety of legal areas in a timely manner.
Apply independent judgment in recommending a course of action for company initiatives
Who You Are:
Law Degree from an accredited Canadian law school or a Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation.
Active member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.
Minimum of eight (8) years of legal experience with at least six (6) years of corporate and commercial transactional experience either in-house or at a major law firm. Highly developed ability to identify and respond to legal commercial business issues on short notice, and under strict time constraints.
Ability to work independently, make decisions and meet multiple deadlines in a dynamic work environment; under tight deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively (cooperative yet persuasive approach) with all levels in the organization.
Excellent organizational, project management and facilitation skills.
Meticulous attention to detail, but pragmatic in approach
Working Conditions:
High demand, fast-paced office environment, with flexibility to work from home certain days of the week.
Occasional travel to various offices of the Enbridge organization or counterparty locations, including internationally as required. This position requires an ability to handle an extreme workload and provide legal advice and support on very short timelines
