Sr. Layout Designer (Marine Innovation)

Position Overview:
In this role, you will support the design and development of Polaris off‑road vehicle systems and components, with a primary focus on engine integration including intake, exhaust, fuel, and EVAP systems. You will create high‑quality layouts and engineering drawings using CREO that meet defined engineering requirements and program timelines. This role may be filled as either a Layout Designer or Design Engineer based on your education, experience, and demonstrated capability. You will support both new and existing programs, help resolve field issues, and contribute design solutions aligned with product, quality, cost, and timing objectives. This position offers hands‑on exposure to system‑level vehicle integration and the opportunity to influence production‑ready designs.

Key Responsibilities:
• Create and execute design layouts, models, and engineering drawings in CREO and Windchill in accordance with engineering specifications
• Design and develop components and systems to meet safety, quality, reliability, cost, and schedule targets
• Support new product development and existing production programs, including field issue resolution
• Collaborate with Industrial Design, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure designs meet functional and manufacturability requirements
• Analyze design alternatives, evaluate tradeoffs, and recommend optimized solutions
• Lead or participate in design reviews to ensure DFM, DFC, and DFW principles are incorporated
• Review drawings and documentation to verify GD&T accuracy and compliance with company and industry standards
• Determine appropriate tooling requirements and manufacturing methods for components
• Develop and document design procedures for parts, assemblies, and layouts
• Support BOM development, prototype procurement, and related project activities
• Communicate system‑level design tradeoffs to technical and non‑technical stakeholders
• May provide technical guidance and task direction to less experienced team members
• Plan and coordinate assigned work while providing regular status updates using Microsoft tools

Qualifications:
• Associate degree in Mechanical Drafting, Design Technology, or a related technical field OR Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Minimum 7 years of relevant layout, design, or engineering experience in a production or model‑year‑based manufacturing environment
• Candidates with a 2‑year technical degree and relevant layout/design experience may be considered for the Layout Designer level
• Candidates with a 4‑year engineering degree may be considered for the Design Engineer level
• Proven experience creating layouts, models, and drawings using CREO and Windchill
• Working knowledge of GD&T per ANSI/ASME Y14.5
• Experience designing components using multiple manufacturing processes including castings, injection molding, plastics, tubing, and complex stampings
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Project, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Ability to work with domestic and international technology partners
• Travel up to 10% as needed
