Primary Duties
1. Prepares all federal, state and local income/franchise tax returns, reports, estimated payments and extensions in a timely and accurate manner.
2. Creates and maintains databases and work files for the accumulation of information for income/franchise tax reporting and filing.
3. Utilizes accounting and tax applications to prepare reports, track payments and check requests. Determines applicable treatment of new accounts in various software packages. Maintains various systems by making updates and changes as necessary.
4. Administers systems to ensure proper income/franchise taxes are paid to the operational jurisdictions in which the Company operates.
5. Prepares quarterly and annual income/franchise tax accrual and ensures accuracy of journal entries submitted to accounting personnel for financial statements and reports.
6. Prepares analyses of book/tax differences and assist with examining impact on tax returns and/or tax provision.
7. Assists with the preparation of quarterly and annual ASC 740 calculations for current and deferred tax expense. Performs detailed analysis of any tax reserves to ensure compliance with FIN48.
8. Adheres to income tax internal control procedures and suggests process improvements when necessary.
9. Responds to requests for information. Provides data to internal/external auditors, taxing authorities and other departments as needed.
10. Keeps updated on federal and state tax laws and regulatory changes and assists with tax planning projects.
11. Prepares budget of income and franchise taxes for review.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Educational/Experience Level
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or related field;
Minimum of three years tax-related experience at a public firm or corporate tax department
Communication Skills
Excellent communication skills within the team and outside of the team
Ability to communicate with stakeholders efficiently and effectively on tax technical matters
Computer Skills
Advanced knowledge of various business computer applications in order to create complex documents, reports or graphics.
OneSource experience preferred.
Work Conditions
Works in an office environment. Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
