Sr. Estimator, Project ControlsKBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. KBR is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to support our Project Controls team by developing high‑quality preliminary and definitive cost estimates for a wide range of projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, deep understanding of industry best practices, and the ability to solve complex estimating challenges with minimal supervision.
Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Develop preliminary and definitive cost estimates using established processes, historical data, labor productivity factors, and material pricing.
Apply industry best practices to solve complex estimating problems and ensure estimate accuracy.
Prepare and tabulate cost studies, cash flow projections, and prospect analyses to support project planning and decision‑making.
Evaluate historical performance data to improve estimating models and refine cost assumptions.
Utilize strong problem‑solving skills to help shape and enhance internal estimating processes.
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to validate scope, quantities, and pricing.
Provide guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentoring to less‑experienced estimators and project controls staff.
Ensure estimates align with corporate standards, risk considerations, and client expectations.
Communicate and present estimates to office and business management to seek approval prior to client release.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field.
5+ years of experience in estimating, project controls, or related functions within energy, industrial, or technology-based projects.
Strong understanding of estimating methodologies, labor productivity, material pricing, and project cost structures.
Proficiency in cost estimating tools and standard project controls software.
Ability to analyze complex data and develop accurate, well‑supported cost models.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multi‑disciplinary team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Aspen Capital Cost Estimating (ACCE) software, including model-based estimating and cost benchmarking.
Familiarity with AACE International Recommended Practices (RPs), including estimate classification, basis documentation, and contingency development.
Background in estimating industrial facilities such as chemical plants, process industries, manufacturing, or other heavy industrial environments.
AACE certifications (e.g., CCP, CEP, EVP) are a plus.
Experience with quantitative cost risk analysis.
