Summary of Role: 

GlobalFoundries is seeking an energetic and highly motivated early career engineer for a position as a Device Engineer in our state-of-the-art 300mm wafer fab in Malta, NY.  The candidate will work closely with our Technology Development team and then transition to the New Product Device Engineering team ramping up our Silicon Photonics platform.  Come to GF to help drive the future of Silicon Photonics.

Essential Responsibilities Include:

  • Drive New Product Introductions: Be at the forefront of launching breakthrough Silicon Photonics devices, setting performance targets and conditions that push the boundaries of what’s possible.
  • Master Device Performance: Dive deep into sensitivity curves and discover how they impact both electrical and optical product excellence.
  • Lead with Precision: Help orchestrate the New Product Introduction workload, ensuring every launch is “first time right.”
  • Collaborate for Success: Work side-by-side with the Electrical Characterization Team to set up smart SPC controls and monitoring strategies that guarantee top-tier results.
  • Innovate Through Analysis: Use your expertise in data, failure analysis, and device knowledge to uncover game-changing improvement opportunities.
  • Accelerate Improvements: Partner with Test, Integration, and Process Modules to deliver fast, cost-effective enhancements that make a real difference.
  • Champion Customer Success: Support customer engineering to exceed expectations and deliver solutions that matter.
  • Boost Manufacturing Excellence: Contribute to process module engineering activities that drive down costs, shorten cycle times, and strengthen manufacturing robustness.

Other Responsibilities: 

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Circuit Design, Electrical Engineering or related technical field with 2 years of industry experience
  • Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment
  • Working knowledge in the design, execution, and analysis of experiments.
  • Knowledge of circuit design and test, solid state device physics, submicron FET architectures, and the implications of electrical characteristics and performance on yield and product behavior
  • Affinity for quick learning

     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Circuit Design, Electrical Engineering or related technical field
  • Two years of relevant industry experience
  • Internship experience in circuit design, characterization, test, yield enhancement and/or product engineering
  • Working knowledge of semiconductor processing, process integration and Silicon Photonics.

Expected Salary Range

$69,000.00 - $145,800.00

The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.
