The Sr. Director, Engineering – Stablecoin will lead the engineering organization responsible for building Early Warning’s next-generation cross-border money movement platform. This new solution will extend the trust, speed, and security of Zelle® to international payments, leveraging stablecoin and modern distributed ledger technologies to deliver fast, compliant, and reliable global transfers.
This leader will drive the end-to-end engineering strategy—building scalable, secure, and regulatory-compliant systems that power real-time cross-border transactions. The role requires deep technical expertise, operational rigor, and the ability to build a high-performing team focused on delivery excellence and innovation.
Lead the engineering strategy and execution for the cross-border payments platform, ensuring systems are designed for scalability, security, and regulatory compliance.
Define the technical roadmap in collaboration with Product, Architecture, and Security leaders. Champion cloud-native design, resilient infrastructure, and modern software development practices to support global expansion.
Partner closely with Product, Risk, Compliance, and Operations teams to deliver production-ready, compliant financial systems. Establish shared goals and accountability across disciplines to meet business and regulatory expectations.
Build scalable engineering processes for uptime, observability, and reliability. Partner with SRE and Cloud Operations to establish world-class monitoring, CI/CD, and incident management practices.
Recruit, develop, and mentor top engineering talent. Foster a high-performance culture grounded in technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement. Serve as a visible and inspiring leader who elevates technical standards across the organization.
Keep senior leadership informed on progress, risks, and strategic tradeoffs. Provide clear visibility into program execution and technical decisions that impact business outcomes.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field (or equivalent professional experience).
Typically, 15+ years of progressive software engineering experience, with at least 7 years leading large-scale technology organizations.
Experience with blockchain, stablecoin, or digital asset infrastructure (e.g., wallet management, settlement, or tokenized payments).
Proven experience architecting or scaling payments, banking, or blockchain-based systems in highly regulated environments.
3+ years of experience delivering cloud-based systems using containerization, CI/CD, automated testing, and security-compliant DevOps.
Demonstrated ability to lead technical design and delivery for mission-critical, distributed systems with global reach.
Superior leadership and management skills with strong business acumen.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across executive, technical, and external stakeholder audiences.
Demonstrated track record of building and leading high-performing teams in fast-moving, complex environments.
Background and drug screen required.
Experience migrating or scaling enterprise systems in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Deep understanding of secure system design, encryption standards, and regulatory compliance for financial technology.
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
Physical Requirements
Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.

The base pay scale for this position in:
Phoenix, AZ in USD per year is: $206,000 - $275,000.
San Francisco, CA in USD per year is: $280,000 - $340,000.
Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
