This role reports to the Head of Technology Platform Operations of the Workforce Benefits Division and the role will be located in Newport Beach, CA. Relocation Assistance may be provided.
As a DevOps Lead Engineer you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our software delivery pipelines, ensuring system reliability, and improving overall service quality. You will lead a team of DevOps engineers and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive the adoption of DevOps practices, optimizing development workflows, and ensure the reliability and scalability of software applications in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role plays a pivotal role in improving software delivery processes and enhancing the overall quality of IT operations.
How you will help move us forward:
DevSecOps Strategy: Define and implement the DevSecOps strategy, best practices, and standards for the organization
Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Design and implement robust CI/CD pipelines to automate software deployment, testing, and monitoring
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Manage infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform or Ansible to ensure scalability, reliability, and consistency of infrastructure components
Monitoring and Alerting: Implement monitoring and alerting solutions to proactively identify and resolve performance issues, security vulnerabilities, and system outages
Security and Compliance: Collaborate with security teams to enforce security best practices and ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards
ITIL Implementation: Implement and maintain ITIL best practices to improve service delivery, incident management, problem resolution, change management, and configuration management processes
Collaboration: Foster collaboration between development, operations and enterprise teams, promoting a culture of shared responsibility and continuous improvement
Troubleshooting and Incident Response: Diagnose and resolve issues in lower environments as well as production issues, implementing incident response procedures, and contributing to root cause analysis
Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of DevOps processes, standards, and procedures
Service Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve service delivery, identifying areas for optimization and efficiency gains
Vendor Management: Manage relationships with DevOps-related vendors and third-party service providers
The experience you bring:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8+ years of experience in a DevOps Engineering role
Experience with automated software build, test, and deployment
Experience with agile (e.g. SAFe Agile) and DevOps concepts & methodologies
Experience with AI/MLOps infrastructure enablement
Strong Expertise with networking, port & server configurations, AWS tagging, and scaling
Service Management experience (i.e. Incident, Release)
Strong expertise in CI/CD pipelines, automation, Python, and IaC
Strong expertise in AWS environments, Terraform, and Mulesoft
Proficiency with DevOps tools (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git, and Ansible)
Advanced knowledge of ADO, JIRA, and a CI/CD framework
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
Experience with monitoring/observability platforms (e.g. Grafana, Splunk)
Serve as an escalation point for tier 1 & 2 for complex support issues
Works independently, receives minimal guidance
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience
Strong communication and leadership abilities
May lead functional teams or projects
What makes you stand out:
Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator) are a plus
Proven experience, leading and influencing technical teams comprised of PL employees and contractors
Knowledge of ITIL framework primarily in Service Transition and Service Operations

Base Pay Range:
The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
