SET THE COURSE

To propose concepts and deliver designs that create a swimwear and cover-up collection that will inspire and delight our guests and drive growth of the category for Tommy Bahama. To be a leader with the design team and collaborate with cross functional team, ensuring the quality of the product is world class.

BE THE ISLAND GUIDE

Seasonal Direction & Line Strategy

  • Collaborate with the VP of Women’s Swim to create a line that is trend-relevant, commercially strong, and aligned with the Tommy Bahama brand identity.
  • Partner with the VP of Women’s Swim and DTG merchandising to identify product strategies, whitespace opportunities, and long-term growth drivers for the business.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Women’s Swim on seasonal color direction, color palette development, macro trend concepts, and print narratives; support building the physical presentation and environment for seasonal print-alignment meetings.
  • Assist VP of Women’s Swim in presenting the line during sales and milestone meetings.
  • Take part in fabric selections and initial print reviews during seasonal meetings.

Trend Research, Concept Development & Sketching

  • Research emerging trends and thoughtfully translate them into fresh, brand-authentic concepts.
  • Develop and present market research and trend presentations, create detailed Illustrator sketches, and share design concepts with Design Leadership and cross-functional partners during key sketch reviews.

Design Execution & Product Development

  • Manage product creation from initial sketch to production.
  • Work closely with Product Development to ensure all initial and final tech packs are handed off according to calendar.
  • Partner with Product Development and omni channel merchandising teams to ensure that all the costs of the embellishments, material, treatments and trims are within our initial FOB costing and margin objectives.
  • Partner closely with production team to ensure that all trims pass US and International Law required tests in the initial design process to avoid production delays.
  • Partner with Materials Team, Product Development, and vendors to source and develop hard and soft trims. Design team is responsible for trim briefs and trim spec sheets for development.
  • Partner with Product Development teams and all vendors to ensure all products are premium quality and on time for sales meetings and store deliveries.
  • Meet with fabric and trim vendors to research new ideas, identify opportunities in fabric/construction/trims, and bring forward innovative solutions.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, guide, and train junior designers, supporting their professional growth and development.
  • Support the management of individual goal setting and ongoing performance development for the design team.
  • Own assigned business categories, assist in meeting/exceeding seasonal strategic plans.

Fit, Construction & Quality

  • Collaborate with pattern makers, Technical Design, and Product Development to ensure desired garment construction and look.
  • Ensure premium quality of all category products.
  • Drive silhouette fit intent and partner with Technical Design teams on fittings.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Flexible for other duties as needed to help support the overall business.

ESSENTIALS FOR LIFE IN PARADISE

Bachelors in Fashion or equivalent

Generally, 10 + years of experience

Knowledge of Word, Excel, Photoshop, Illustrator, PLM, Miro

Excellent communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

Multiple factors will vary the applicable rate of pay for this role, including an individual’s experience, knowledge, and skillset, as well as work location and available budget.

Pay Range: $90,800 to $151,300 annually
